12 Months in the Gloom

Event Date

Feb 11, 2019

<<Freedom Trail was also in attendance but I couldn't find in the database above>>

YHC to make some last minute audibles to stay out of the rain (thanks Kosar for some extra toys and a helping hand), and 9 PAX made it out to help YHC celebrate 1 year in the Gloom.  And the Gloom was strong today with a cold, wet, misty morning.

Warmorama: Mosey over to shelter, grab block (we'll come back to those) and circle up.
                (everything x12 IC unless noted)
                SSH, IST, Toy Soldier, Arm circles front & back OYO, ‘Mericans x6IC, Slow Deep Squats x6IC.

The Thang: The PAX grabbed partners, blocks and jump ropes (thanks for the toys Kosar!) while YHC shared some lessons learned throughout the past year.  YHC has learned that with our fellow PAX the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, that the little things are important, and that they often add up to something much greater, even if that isn’t immediately evident at the time.  To attempt to pass those lessons along, today's corriculum was as follows:

                Lesson 1:
                                Partner A: 12 Squats OYO; Partner B: Jump rope; Switch
                                Partner A: 12 Shoulder press OYO; Partner B Jump Rope; Switch
                                Repeato (al gore until all PAX are finished)
                                Partner A: 12 Thrusters (squat to press) OYO; Partner B Jump rope; switch
                                Repeato (al gore until all PAX are finished)
                Recovery lap, with short detour to pullup island for 12 pullups OYO and 24 SSH IC. Back to cover for Lesson 2.

                Lesson 2:
                                Partner A: 12 Deadlifts IC; Partner B: Peoples Chair; switch
                                Partner A: 12 curls IC; Partner B: Peoples Chair; switch
                                Partner A: 12 Shoulder Press IC; Partner B: Mohamed Ali (Rocky Balboa w/ air punch)
                                Partner A: 12 Skull Crushers IC; Partner B: Mohamed Ali
                                –by this time PAX are sensing the bigger picture–
                                Partner A: 6 Eight Count Burners; Partner B Mohamed Ali; switch
                                                Repeato 6 Burners

                Final Lesson:  Return Blocks over to YHC’s car and mosey over to pull up Island. (Graciously YHC continued past the pull-up bars).    As Dredd mentioned on last week's 43 Feet podcast, you must be prepared for the expected as well as the unexpected.  Expected: Mary, Unexpected: The Constricting Snake (a.k.a. The Angry 'Merican Sprint Snake).

                Starting in Aisle 1: Sprint ¼ the aisle, mosey to end; 10 Shoulder Touch ‘Mericans IC;
                Aisle 2: Sprint ½ the aisle, mosey to end; 10 Shoulder Touch ‘Mericans IC;
                Aisle 3: Sprint ¾ the aisle, mosey to end; 10 Slow ‘Mericans IC (3-count down, up on PAX count);
                Aisle 4: Sprint ¾ the aisle (YHC being a gracious Q, thought better of the full aisle sprint), mosey; 6 ‘Mericans IC
                Aisle 5: YHC asked Gypsy to choose our fate with door number 1, 2 or 3.  He chose 3 (which was quadraphelia) so we Quadraphelia to end of the final aisle.  Maybe next time we’ll find out what was behind doors 1 & 2.

                For first Q of the year YHC was a bit off on the timing, and regrettably we didn’t have any time for Mary so we went straight into the COT under cover.  Brief word for our fallen brother Schnieder; Announcements were: Operation Sweet Tooth; & Polar Bear (sans water) which sparked some climate change discussion and interesting Arctic tidbits.

Moleskin:
                YHC is extremely grateful for all the PAX I have met over the past year and the impact that they and F3 as a whole has made in my life, both physically and personally.  Thanks to the PAX who didn’t let a little rain scare them off and made it out to “celebrate” with me in the Gloom.
Quote of the Day:  “There’s never a good way to hold it……(that’s what she said)”
I hope y’all have a good day and a great week!
