#1stThursdayChallenge of 2019… in the rain

It was a late night for YHC, thus when the alarm sounded at 0440 and the rain was heard, YHC thought no way anyone will post today, right?  But then, Toxic and Ultraman NEVER miss a Wilderness post when they're in town, so YHC rolled out of bed and up the street.  In the rain.  And there they were…  Both of them.  Then headlights, then another headlamp.  And wow – suddenly at 0505 there were 9 of us.  Amazing the committment and punctuality of these men.

So the clock rang 0510 and we were off to take on the #1stThursdayChallenge (which has been going on for years now, I think?).  Little different today with the weather and YHC's grumpiness.  We met under shelter of the front porch of the clubhouse, joggy-jog after short disclaimer to the small rock pile on Hugh Torrance, retrieved rocks and returned them to the shelter.  From there the challenge commenced!

Clock rang 0515 (ish) and more headlights – Die Hard has returned to discover 9 others already lifting rocks and that The Wilderness STILL starts at 0510.

And then there were 10…

Heavy rocks.  8-count Burner x 21.  21 Merkins OYO.  21 Dying Cockroaches in cadence.  Lap around the park (admittedly a shorter distance than the normal monthly challenge, but the bball court is under deep construction, there's caution tape over there, and it was just plain dark, rainy and scary).

The above is repeated dropping 3 reps each time (21, 18, 15, etc).  After the final set of 3, the pax carried their rocks back to the HT rock pile, finished the final (short) lap, and back to the shelter.

The smell of the pax (won't name names but Tantrum I know could tell you) was unbearable under the shelter, so it was time to get wet around the traffic circle tree for…  ELEVEN MINUTES OF MARY.  Oops – we finished the challenge too fast.

Pax took turns calling exercises, finishing with SSHs since we didn't have a warm-o-rama.

New Year's Moleskine

Seriosly, men, 9 of you showed up to get your workout and support the AO and your MQ.  I was and am more than impressed!

More than one rotten egg was lodged inside of Tantrum's (edit) body and trying to get out.  It was painfull for everyone.

Amen put a scare into the pax early under the shelter, but from that point on the sea was calm for him.  Thankfully.

Good to have BEP back at The Wilderness.  Apparently an HC to Toxic pulled him home today.  Awesome.

Doing all those Burners made the pax more than aware of the lack of Burner's presence…  He's BEP's neighbor, so I don't get why BEP arrived alone?

T-Claps to IKEA for taking my rock when we got down to the final 2 sets of Burners.  YHC way over-ate on that rock, and it really needs handles for that weight.  IKEA even returned it at the end for me.  Thank you, brother.

Shoulder Touch Merkins were done during Mary despite no Snake Eyes.

J-Lo's were of course done b/c Amen was there.

BEP's shimmy-shimmy-shuffle-whatever is always a surprise to the pax in the rain.  Really helps to soak up the moisture from the ground…

Happy New Year to all.  Way to start it off strong.  Aye.
