20 Pax Ran The Revolt’s Pentagon Memorial Route

Additional Pax Present:  Seabiscuit, PayPal, P.A.B., Gisele, Puddin & FNG (Jim Lekovich – 2nd Post, see below for F3 nickname)

A total of 20 Pax came out to this morning's gloom to honor the memory of the attack on the Pentagon on today's 18th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terroirst attacks.

The image of the route is 5-sided and resembles a pentagon shape, and we ran the loop 5 times around to coincide with the 5-sided shape for a total of around 5.8 miles.

Information on the Pentagon Attack:

  • American Airlines Flight #77, a Boeing 757, departed Washington Dulles bound for Los Angles.
  • While the plane had a capacity of 188, there were just 64 people on board, comprised of 53 passengers, 6 crew members and the 5 hijackers.
  • 35 minutes into the flight, the hijackers stormed the cockpit & forced all passengers and crew to the back of the plane.
  • Unbeknownst to the hijackers, several folks were able to make phone calls and communicate information.
  • Unlike the other 3 flights hijacked that day, there were no reports of anyone being stabbed or a bomb & the pilots were not immediately killed.
  • The last radio communications with Flight #77 were at 8:50am and at 9:37am on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, AA Flight #77 was crashed into the Western side of the Pentagon building.
  • 184 people are most often listed as being killed in this attack, with 59 people on board the plane and 125 people in the building.  The 59 people on the plane includes the 53 passengers & the 6 crew members.  The 5 hijackers are not included in the most often published number of those killed.
  • The damaged portion of the Pentagon was rebuilt in 2002 and reoccupied around August.
  • There is a nearly 2 acre park containing a bench for each victim, arranged according to their year of birth, from 1930 to 1998 (there were 5 children, ages 3 – 11, on Flight #77).
  • #NeverForget

There is an actual piece of steal beam from the World Trade Center infront of the Cornelius Fire Department #1 on South Main Street.

COT included:

  • Prayers for the Anthony family from Davidson after Mark Amthony passed away while awaiting a liver transplant.
  • Prise that BagBoy has been seen & heard from and seems to be progressing well in his recovery.

  • 5 times up the Spring Street hill ensured I'll never forget this route.
  • I'm always encouraged to see so many Pax come out for The Revolt runs and love the 2nd F we all get to experience each week.

  • Welcome to F3 Shrooms!
