You loved the event last year. You have been asking about it this year. The week is now here.
The 2017 LKN Rucks 'n Brews for Purple Heart Homes is being coordinated by F3LKN. Last year the phenomenally successful BrewRuck event was coordinated by FiA's own, Thunder. Due to the success and enjoyment had by all, we have been receiving multiple requests for the next version. In fact, the chatter was so plentiful that Mooch raised his hand to volunteer and lead the event. Although I was concerned at first, I can tell you that Mooch has put a lot of effort into coordinating a very enjoyable and rewarding event.
As noted in the initial PB, the event is open to all F3, FiA, M's of F3 & FiA, and FNGs. We are anticipating 40+ participants and possibly a few Veterans from Purple Heart Homes.
Here is what Mooch has planned:
When: July 15, 2017. Start 0745 / Endex 1300
Where: Starbucks area parking lot off Gilead Rd. (exit 23). 9832 Gilead Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Plan to park in the business lot to the south of Starbucks.
What: Rucking as a group under weight on a path around Huntersville and Cornelius that will conveniently take us to multiple beer shops/breweries. In our path will be Crafty Beer Guys, Primal Brewing, D9 Brewing, Ass Clown Brewing and Eleven Lakes Brewing.
Why: Opportunity for fitness and fellowship along with supporting a local charity. All funds raised will benefit Purple Heart Homes out of Statesville, NC. https://purplehearthomesusa.org/ Additional donation opportuinites will be present throughout the day for participants and general public.
Entry: $15 per person. This will cover charity proceeds and an event patch. That's right, I said PATCH! *Update: patches will not be available until post event. Patches will be mailed upon completion. You will provide your mailing address prior to launch.
There is still plenty of time to sign-up. HC by sending payment ($15) via PayPal. Use this link, paypal.me/RSchooley .
Additional Details: Each PAX is required to carry a ruck sack or back pack with weight, along with some form of hydration that is not alcohol. No weight requirement, but don't cheat yourself. We will carry additional weight as a team and one of the team weights will be additional hydration in a cooler of ice. Bring additional money hydration options along the way along with raffle opportunities to benefit Purple Heart Homes. Also, please have your ID with you.
Safety Debrief: We anticipate the event being warm. Please hydrate before, during and after. Sunscreen and a hat are highly recommended. There will be multiple leaders throughout the event. Please listen to the leaders' instruction as we move as a team. We will cross all roads as a team. If weight becomes too much of a challenge in areas where rapid movement is necessary, please pass off to an able body until the movement is completed. If you must depart the event please notify Ramrod, Mooch or Comet before departing. Do not drink and drive. Plan travel accordingly to ensure a safe arrival and departure. A waiver will be present at the launch and a signature by all participants is a must. The folks leading this event are not professionals.
We look forward to a fantastic event and opportunity to raise money for a very worthy cause while enjoying the fellowship of our brothers and sisters.
This will be Good Livin!
