3 FNG’s to a Murph

Matt Hearn FNG
Adam 2nd visit…Now known as "Thrift Shop"
Braxton FNG
Billy FNG
Also EH'd a guy working out solo named Josh after we were done

13 including 3 FNGs and 1 more back for their 2nd visit for this June Murph. Before we get started, Saturday marked the 15th anniversary of the start of Operation Red Wings, which resulted in Lt. Michael P Murphy paying the ultimate sacrifice. Lt. Michael P Murphy was a leader. More on leadership in the reflection.

I'm not sure why, but Denver gets more FNGs to the Murph, it seems more than any other workout.
Matt Hearn, is the Lead Pastor at Church at Denver, brought to us by Finkle
Braxton, is the most ripped 16 year old I've ever seen. He is visiting from Washington State. He had to get out of the Chop Zone apparently. Puddle brought him this morning.
Billy was EH'd Saturday morning by Scope before the 2.0 workout. Billy had to leave promptly at 6:15

Instructions given to run 1 mile and meet at the pull-up bars. Billy (the new Clark) arrived a few minutes late so got instructions from another PAX.

COP
No time for that, today we Murph

The Murph

Out of the gate Braxton takes off and finishes nearly a 6:15 pace. Abrams started around a 7 minute pace and decides that Abrams tanks are faster and I believe successfully, catches Braxton at the end of the first mile.

At the pull-up bars YHC gave instructions that we will need to pick different start stations with only 6 pull-up bars and 13 PAX.
YHC sets the timer for 20 rounds of 1:15. 5 pull ups 10 push-ups, 15 squats
for a total of
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups ('Mericans)
300 Squats

Then we run the 2nd mile.

Back the the launch pad we do a quick sound off and hold the reflection for the backblast because it's after 6:15 and some PAX have to scoot out.

Reflection

Today's reflection comes from the Bible App and Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast on Six Steps to Your Best Leadership. Find it here…
https://www.bible.com/en/reading-plans/14992 This is a 7 day devotional
On day 1 titled A Discipline to Start Craig asks us a question

"Is leading people just something I want to do, or is it part of who I am?"…
"The most influential leaders start with the who and let the do flow from there"
"Even by secular standards, Jesus is arguably the most influential leader to have ever lived. He only worked in the public space for 3 years and in that time gains tens of thousands of followers. Two tousand years later, the best-selling book of all time tells the story of His life, and billions of people from every part of the world have committed their entire lives to following Him.

I picked one of these verses from this devotional for today.

John 10:11 NIV

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep"

Who wouldn't want to follow that kind of leadership.

Moleskin

  • For the record YHC arrived 3 minutes EARLY today
  • Sparrow flashes back to his days in the Airf Force and during the COT refers to himself as Dart, which was his nickname when he was flying F-16's while most of us were not even thought of yet.
  • Thift Shop was not pleased to learn that today was Murph Day, but he did great. The name Thrift Shop came from him wearing a Gallway Hooker shirt to his first workout. When the PAX pointed it out, he stated that he got the shirt at a thrift shop. Bertha suggested the name Macklemore as well. Thirft Shop is a fellow Wolfpack Alumni and went to the same high school as Hefty. He's a Civil Engineer that mostly works on waste water treatment facility designs.
  • Braxton, dude is a beast. Looks like he's in his 20's, but is a young 16. Plans to go to the Marines after high school. I'm assuming here, but I reckon he plays high school football or wrestles.
  • Finkle about splashed merlot, but was able to keep it down. He said at that point he checked his heartrate and it was 186 (not running). Finkle EH'ed Matt Hearn. I believe he will be back for more.
  • Scope EH'd Billy. I didn't get a chance to talk to Billy much due to Murph, but Billy wanted to get his 2nd mile and had to head back home after ~ 15 rounds.
  • No skunk sighting today
  • Everyone put in a solid effort and working through this beast of a workout.
