3 appeared from the gloom, grateful for their cold cranking amps flexing that starter to turn. 6 degrees F at the start of the workout. Many layers. Many concerns about frostbite. Many comments from spouses about how crazy this was. Meh, couldn’t let anyone #sadclown; not on this day. So we started things off quickly and never really slowed down until the COT. Here’s how we survived:
20x SSH
Mosey to the back and retrieve a block…dang, they seemed heavy, maybe a little ice in the block from the rain just before the temp drop
Return to the front and form a line at the bottom of the p.lot.
We adopted a 12 Days of Christmas style workout.
1st day…1 suicide
2nd day…2x windmills (x=in cadence)
3rd day…3x Grandma Maters
4th day…4x Lunge Walks
5th…5 golden burpees
6th…6 squats
7th…7 shoulder presses
8th…8x mountain climbers
9th…9x SSH’s
10th…10x Tony Hawks
11th…11x curls
12th…12x low country crabs
take the blocks back
We had a bit more time, and similar to Spinal Tap’s logic, 13 is better than 12
*** I think there was an audible groan or two from the pax, but I persisted
13th day…13 pull ups
return to the AO

reflection: The Tower of the Flock
Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Micah 4:8 And you, O tower of the flock, hill of the daughter of Zion, to you shall it come, the former dominion shall come, kingship for the daughter of Jerusalem.
** Lambs were required for daily sacrifices at the Temple
** Bethlehem is 5-6 miles south of Jerusalem
** The Levitical shepherds that provided the sacrificial, perfect, without blemish lambs, were born and raised in the fields between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
** The Tower of the Flock (The Tower of Eder) was along the road between the towns and is where lambs were born and, if without blemish, were cleaned and swaddled and then raised for temple sacrifices
** The shepherds that were visited by an angel and heard the heavenly host singing were likely Levitical shepherds. They didn’t need to look around Bethlehem for A manger that held the newborn Christ.
** They went to THE manger…the tower of the flock…to find Jesus…THE sacrifice for all humanity, the perfect lamb
** I had never heard this before…makes THE manger story even more poignant.
** t-claps to Pastor Green at Pursuit Church for pointing out this amazing prophesy and detail about Jesus’s birth as THE Perfect Lamb

moleskine:
** no appendages were lost during the workout; we kept checking on each other and were prepared to take a warm up break if needed, but not necessary
** we all did a great job of staying warm, keeping the heart rate going, never really stopping throughout the workout
** T-claps to Tonka and Strudel…would have REALLY been easy to #fartsack
** Both crushin’ it and having fun along the way
** sure did cool off quickly at the end : ) get in your cars and get home to the fam’
** Traveling mercies for those flying and/or with family plans
** He is the Reason for the Season
Good times as always fellas; a real honor to lead.
