Shorts Are Required Outside The People’s Republic

Ramrod asked me to Q at The Beacon awhile back. I was honored to accept and at the same time, a little nervous as I knew I'd have to sneak out of The People's Republic on a Sat. morning to lead a workout. Plus, I was heading to an AO that I had only been to once before so I was unsure initially of the type of workout I'd lead. Then the lightbulb went off…Deck O' Pain!!! This workout was created by one of Davidson's most hated Q's, Chim Chim. This title was confirmed this past Thur. evening during the TPR Christmas Party, when it was annouced that 100% of the Pax that took part in a survey picked him as one of the most hated Q's.

After warn weather all week, the temps finally dropped, it was below 30 when I rolled up to GCC. I dressed appropriately or so I thought, at least it is in The People's Republic. Showing up wearing tights without shorts I was quickly heckled by the man that invited me, thus the workout began in typical fashion whenever I Q…with that Pax laughing at me.

The Thang (to the best of my memory)

Standard warmup – SSH x 20 IC, Mountain Climbers x 15 IC, Imperial Walker x 15 IC, Windmill x 15 IC, stretching. I pulled out my trusty deck of cards and explaine dto the Pax how it would go done. Spades = Squats, Clubs = Alternating Lunges, Diamonds = LBC's, and Hearts = Burpees (Everyone's most loved exercise). Jacks = 11, Queens = 12, Kings = 13, and Aces = 14. A card is flipped, based on the suit that is the exercise and the number is the reps to be completed. All were done in cadence with the exception of Burpees. As to be expected, I was accused of not shuffling the deck as it seemed there were quite a few heart faced cards flipped early. However, the Ace of Hearts was one of the last thre cards flipped and it was followed by the 5 of Hearts. We did run a few laps around the parking lot islands and a few laps around the building.

We wrapped up with some Mary, including what The People's Republic consider the most embarassing exercises, the Pickle Pounder and the Monkey Humper.

COT – Bag Boy was meeting with Outlaw as they are looking into engaging the Pax in helping folks and their families that are afflicted with ALS. Unfortunately, Bag Boy found out earlier in the week that a co-worker's wife was recently diagnosed with this disease. We lifted up the family and Bag Boy and Outlaw's mission.

Moleskin

  • I was abused immediately for wearing tights without shorts over them, lesson learned
  • My bow tie was a hit thus alleviating some of the abuse for my other fashion faux pas
  • Ramrod, thank you for the opportunity to Q The Beacon. Now, I need to get you on the Q schedule in Davidson
  • Grillz, tclaps for sneaking out of TPR to support me. Even bigger tclaps for doubling down that morning
  • Bag Boy always a pleasure to workout with you, my friend. Springy, good to see you. Speacial Sauce, you were missed, I hope your M is feeling better.
  • It was a pleasure to meet some new guys, come up to The People's Republic, we're not as snobby as we are made out to be
  • As always, it is an honor and humbling to lead such fine men

AYE!!
