Burpee Countdown Tribute at The Estate

Continuing my streak of non-creativity, YHC once again stole a workout invented by a more creative man.  Here is the inspiration for what we did today:

So kindly direct any complaints towards a Davidson gentleman named Hipster!  So here is our ode to Hipster:

06:59:  Pledge of Allegiance.

Mosey to the middle of the lower soccer field, mixing in high knees, butt kickers, long striders, and Quadraphilia.

Circle up and give quick disclaimer ("I'm not a professional, and I'm not very creative…etc")

WARM-O-RAMA:
* SSH x 15 IC
* IST x 15 IC
* Soybean farmers x 15 IC
* Slow Deep Squats x 15 IC
* Arm Circles

The Thing:  All exercises done “OYO” unless otherwise indicated.  Plank it out whenever waiting for the 6.

Field 1, Set 1, starting in the middle where we circled up:
* 15 burpees
* 15 jump squats
* 15 WW2 sit-ups

Mumble chatter heard early:  "Are you serious?"

Set 2:
* Mosey to the lower right corner of soccer field
* 14 burpees
* 14 jump squats
* 14 WW2 sit-ups

More mumble chatter:  "You weren't kidding about not being creative".

Set 3:
* Quadraphilia to the lower left corner of field
* 13 burpees
* 13 jump squats
* 13 WW2 sit-ups

Set 4:
* Mosey to the upper left corner of field

* 12 burpees
* 12 jump squats
* 12 WW2 sit-ups

…and so on and so forth, until we travelled over all 3 soccer fields and got to 1 burpee and 1 jump squat and 1 ab thing.  For the second 5 sets we did mason twists, for the third 5 sets we did LBCs.  There were some lunge walks and crawl bears as we crossed to the higher soccer fields.  And we negotiated "mosey" for Quadraphilia after Jolly graciously agreed to Q at The Estate in early July.  Professor thanks you buddy!

As you can imagine with this crew, on a hot day, with wet fields…this workout was well received and everyone quietly pushed through it.  Yeah not really!  But as Jolly noted, without 2nd F this would have sucked.  So thanks for all the mumblechatter to help get everyone through.

After we completed the countdown we did:

  • 25 mason twists OYO
  • 25 LBCs IC
  • (because YHC has OCD)

Totals:

  • 120 burpees
  • 120 jump squats
  • 65 each of: WW2 sit-ups, mason twists, and LBCs

Then mosey to the parking lot for Mary.

Mary:

  • Plank, R arm up, L arm up, HOLD for:
  • JLOs x 15 IC. HOLD again for:
  • Shoulder touch Mericans x 15 IC (courtesy of Snake Eyes)
  • Low Flutters x 15 IC
  • Then 10 burpees OYO.  Just kidding.

Recover, recover.  Total distance was 1.81 miles according to my Garmin.  Link below:

Moleskin:

  1. Welcome to FNG Joel Walburn, now known as Peaches.  Hailing from Georgia, Peaches was EH'd by Burner and his first post was June 9th at the Wilderness.  We met him the Saturday prior to that, helping Burner move.  Jolly wanted to go with "UHaul", but he knows another UHaul in F3.  #NantanIntegrity.  Excellent work today Peaches, look forward to seeing you more in the gloom.  14-Jun update:  Added Peaches to the PAX list since now available on this website.
  2. Good to meet you Skipper.  He humbly claims to be the slowest of all the Denver PAX on Kumquat's BRR team…which leads me to believe that will be one hell of a BRR team.  Dude crushed the workout today.
  3. Tclaps to Starkist for running to and from the workout, as always.  Great work too…ready to Q this thing?
  4. Dry Rub's clown car was pretty lonely today.  Were you supposed to pick everyone up?
  5. Jolly had an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.  Tantrum said something funny I won't repeat here.  That is all.
  6. Speaking of Tantrum, he was the only one to #tripledown today.  Fantastic work brother.
  7. The Force promised to do all the reps on the last set of the countdown, and I'm proud to say he delivered on that promise.  Strong work buddy!
  8. Thank you Mr Burns for leading a hard workout at Excelsior, and warming everyone up for The Estate.
  9. Great work from The Estate regulars, including Hasselhoff, Snake Eyes, and Freedom.  And no complaints from this bunch.
  10. Didn't hear much mumble chatter from BurVegas or Jenny, apologies.  I suspect BurVegas was simply working hard and Jenny was cursing me under his breath.
  11. Thank you Professor once again for the opportunity to lead.  You were out in front most of the day, crushing it as always.  Always enjoy working out with you at The Estate, you work hard bro.

Until next time gentlemen, Turnpike.
