TheMurph Denver AO – August 2016 edition

2 AO backblasts in 1.  Now that is efficiency…
7 at SVU and 13 at ELHS Mustang!

It was business as usual for this months Murph beatdown.  We had a few #TheMurph first timers today at Mustang.  Once you hear the story of #TheMurph you appriciate it a whole lot more.  The Murph is a crossfit bodyweight "WOD" which is Workout Of the Day.  It's also a HERO workout named after  Lt. Michael P Murphy.  I can't do it justice, but here you can read his story for yourself.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_P._Murphy If you've seen or read The Lone Survivor, you've heard the story of his courage and sacrifice.

"Murph" was originally called "Body Armor" and was the workout that he completed frequently and he created while in Afghanistan …but with 20 lbs of body armor.  So if you want to really want to feel some pain, dona 20 lb vest and try this workout.  YHC did this once, it sucked.

We completed a one mile run (Clubber got a PR!!!)
And err'body also completed 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats, then we all ran a slightly slower mile back to the launch pad.

Reflection:

1 Corinthians 3 16

Do you not discern and understand that you are God's temple, and that God's spirit has His permanent dwelling in you

But I also heard something during the olymipcs that struck a  nreve and I want to make sure everyone is aware of.  Often you may have heard "God doesn't give you more than you can handle" which is half true, only because you got the 2nd half of the verse in context, and it's often used out of context.  We've discussed it before in F3, and  I'd also like to share the full verse from the amplfied Bible and the verse that follows it because God often gives us more than we can hadnle because he doesn't want us to just handle it on our own.  He wants us to lean on Him and the Church, aka your brothers in Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:13-14

13 No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].

14 Therefore, my beloved, run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul].
