1 Kings 19:3a “And Elijah was afraid and arose and ran for his life…”
- 1 Kings 18: 20-46 is a great story of the Prophet Elijah challenging the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. Great, great story.
- Immediately following this amazing victory of God, Jezebel is infuriated and sends a messenger to tell Elijah that she will kill him.
- See the verse, and then read the rest of Chapter 19…where his position as a prophet was removed.
- Despite being a prophet, despite seeing fire come down from heaven, despite God’s great victory, Elijah was afraid, and it caused him to deviate from God’s plan
- What fears do you have?
- What fears are paralyzing you from action to serve our great God?
- Pray for wisdom to understand your fears, and for God’s power to remove this fear, to continue the works He has planned in you, for His glory.
