Four of Mt. Island Lake's finest registered F3ers, and OctoberFest (who refuses to register or wear the ribbon), were patently NOT with the Griswolds on Vacation.

  • Complaints about bear crawling will be rewarded with bear crawling and bear dancing
  • Octoberfest should get over his fear of big government and just register on F3 site already. And stop wearing the tinfoil hat.
  • Pax is getting in shape for bikini season. Extra LBCs are in forecast.
  • Mark calendars for 4/22 service project! See below for details.  
  • Also on 4/22 704 will be manning the BBQ pit at  1331 Watts Drive, Charlotte, NC 28216 on behalf of local little league. Maybe after we do some good we can do some good food.

Who:     We are seeking to recruit 20-30 people to assist with building a Learning Garden at Paw Creek Elementary school. We already have approximately 10 people line up but could use some more assistance

 
What:   There are four separate building projects planned for that day as follows:
  1. Build Cedar Shed – using a kit from Lowe’s. We will also use sand and pavers to create a level surface for the shed.
  2. Assemble sets of 6 4X4 cedar garden boxes
  3. Clean-out and remove weeds from an existing garden
  4. Remove any dead trees from the garden area
 
            Where: Paw Creek Elementary School, 1300 Cathey Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214
 
When:    Saturday April 22nd at 8:30 am for a couple of hours. The more people we have to help, the quicker we will be able to finish
 
Why:     REAL School Gardens is an organization that creates learning gardens that grow successful students.  To help students succeed, REAL School Gardens creates learning gardens in low-income schools and trains teachers how to use them to improve student engagement and academic achievement.  More information on REAL School Gardens can be found at the attached link http://www.realschoolgardens.org/
 
        April 22nd also happens to be Earth Day, so this is a great reason to get outside, help build a garden, and have some fun and fellowship
