Fightclub – and now we can attack

Event Date

I have been remiss in my duties regarding Backblasts for the past few weeks,,, But I will submit those for review soon.  This morning was a great day to wake up and sharpen some bones.  This morning we were honored to have two F3 men join us at Fightclub for the first time.  #Juicebox and #Maniac were powerful additions to the group and YHC looks forward to seeing what they can do once they learn a bit more.

For the past year, we learned and practiced what appeared to be techniques to defend against strikes.  Blocking and striking at the same time while controllong the legs.  But this morning we discovered that the moves, concepts and techniques are universal in nature and can be used to initiate an attack.  In reality,,,, we don't "defend",,, we destroy what ever body part is threatening us and then move toward center line attacks.  The only difference in concept is whether the opponenet initates the attack,,, our we do.  When the other person attacks first we deflect the attack and move on to destroy the offending body part.  When we decide it is required to initiate an attack we control any offending (or threatening) body part and move in to destroy.  Sounds simple,,, and it will be eventually once we allow our brain to get out of the way.

We started off getting #Juicebox and #Maniac up to speed on the concepts of balance on movement.  We had them jump right in to legs drills and hand drills.  And if anyone has learned these drills you will remember that they take a while before the body allows them to be performed smotthly.  But these two men learned quickly and will soon be sharpening bone on bone.

The rest paired up and we started transforming what was thought to be just for defense into a very effective system of attacking.  As YHC stated before,, there is no difference in what we do during an attack or "defense".  The moves and techniques are the same.  To make it simple to undersand,,,,  we always attack.  If attacked we dont just defend,, we destroy the attacking parts.  When we attack,,,, we attack.  It was fun to watch the men when they realized that they knew more than they thought that they did.  The transition was mostly a mental twist.  During these drills (yes we do them repeated to "drill them into our minds and bodies) it was dicovered that the spacing did not feel natural.  We must understand a few things.  It is required to anticipate the direction and position of the persons body as it relates to the envronment and our movement.  But more importantly we must remember,,, when you strike someone in the face (body, leg, arm) they will not be in the same space or position when you continue the attack.  placement of our feet and moving off on angles will ensure the spacing that you desire is maintained.    Stepping seems so natural when we walk, but in a conflict most people forget how to move from one foot to another to move in any direction.  And to make things more difficult we must learn a new way of moving that controls the transfer of weight and movement so we dont "fall off a step or strike".  This is diffifult to explain,, so "show to know".

Time went quickly , as it often does when you are having fun.  Active combat will be coming soon and I look forward to see what each will do with this new found understanding that they already know more than they thought.

I look forward to trading bruises and bumps with you fine men.  Thank you for allowing YHC the time to share this system with you.  The world is a dangerous place and I hope that gaining this knowledge will increase the peace that you and your family enjoy.
