Written for Mater, by C#.
Mater takes his first steps toward a full on VQ, which I anticipate will be very soon.
First he has and idea that he wants to ruck again. In an iron sharpens iron fashion, Mater comes to C# with the ruck idea and I tell him that if he wants to do it, then he needs to send out an email and announce it to the PAX. So he does. Now he has made it offical, and so Ziploc and C# feel the call to support him and show up with our sacks on.
Mater warms us up with some:
10 IC SSH
10 IC Cotton Pickers
10 IC Windmills
Ziploc and C# take it easy on Mater since it is only the two of us, and instead of giving Mater crap and distraction, we give him advice. Like, let us know when to quit! Mater knows in his head that he is done, but forgets to change the pitch of his cadance or say "Last". So while Mater did 10 of each of the above, Zippy and I did 11 or so of each. 🙂
Then we are off. As we get going down Little Egypt C# calls out Ziploc and Mater for disappearing into the dark-> Mater is in all dark clothes and no reflectors/light, and Ziploc forgot his headlamp, and "Thought" he had a reflector on his sack. Shaming them both here. Next time I want to see glow sticks, lights, reflectors!
Mater calls out the exercise for pain stations along the way, and we make it to the end of the road. There is not traffic on the other side of the railroad tracks, so we kill the head lamp and go dark to let our eyes adjust and checked out some stars in the clear sky as we made our way back up the hill to the AO.
Coming into the AO, just in time, so Mater begins his bible verse/reflection as we cross at the stoplight coming back into ELHS. A quick prayer, and everyone split!
Reflection:
Proverbs 27:17 NIV – 17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Mater says we need to not only sharpen each other at F3, but sharpen others in our lives as well. Then he shares how F3 is sharpening him up, but what he may not realize, is that he is sharpen others now too!
Looking forward to your official VQ with about 10+ PAX to heckle you and see if you can stay on track while herding the sheep!
