Halflife – Davidson Edition

Event Date

Jul 04, 2018

Since Blackbeard won't leave me alone.  Here is the once yearly backblast for Halflife…

While the morning could be summed up with a simple "We Ran", there is a bit more to the story today and thus, there will be (a few more) details.

There were 6 men who got the memo of the changed location and time for Halflife this week.  Pusher led the push for using the Davidson track and meeting at the Green today since we tend to show a bit too much skin for the Hough folks and we have been kicked out of that location.  It will not be long before Davidson tires of the nakedness of Dallas with his tats and Kumquat with his bare chested frothing, and we will again be homeless.  However, today we were not hampered in our quest for fitness.

As mentioned, Pusher had the grand plan today and lead this herd of cats generally in the direction of the track.  There was an intended extended warmup, which was cut short by the bucking broncos (Squiggy and Curd) who just could not be restrained from getting on the track as soon as humanly possible.  Luckily a couple rounds of the track loosened the muscles enough for the main event.

In the dark, the fringes of Wingman's shirt seemed to have an animal print (leopard perhaps?).  Once the sun came up, it turned out to be a more normal design that is not nearly as backblast worthy.  Oh well.  Strong running out there brother.

After the 4 x 1200m were complete and we were headed back to the cars, Fenway shared that his Swedish speed shoes were now spent and there would be no extra loop for him.  After cooling down at the cars, it was shared that the same brand of Swedish speed shoes is also an excellent crosscountry ski brand.  It was then shared that Fenway was once a military ski trooper.  YHC is thinking if we ever have a "Most Interesting Man in Lake Norman" contest, Fenway may be a strong contestant.  #coolstories

Well, that is all.  Thanks Pusher for leading.  And thanks all for coming out.  Next week is 1 mi intervals in the retirement village.
