Week of the Pirate 2018 has (finally) come to an end. I’m sure you’ll be happy to stop hearing me beg for you to buy a patch or attend one of my dumb workouts. But hey! It was always about the kids, right?! If there’s any comfort in putting up with my salty remarks, it’s that donating any money collected during my birthday week would be going towards a great cause.
And boy did the donations come in! My original plea was to get $5 per badge. This was the cost to produce each one and my conservative goal was to have the pax cover the manufacturing cost so that I could redirect that amount toward a good cause. But in typical F3 fashion, guys started giving me more that that. Some gave a LOT more. Most gave money even though they were attending my workout too. A few handed me money on Saturday morning even after I told them that I had run out of patches. “I don’t need the patch,” they explained. “I just want to help with the cause.”
This pirate thanks you for your generosity. I am sure Olive will do the same many times over on behalf of Operation Sweet Tooth. Perhaps the kids that benefit most from your charity will never give you a personal thank-you note, but you can be sure that they will be appriciative as well. What you did was amazing, and I’m glad that I could serve as a mere conduit between your anonymous giving and the children who depend on our donations.
And so I leave you with the final tally for the #WOTP offering to Olive’s organization. I will work with him to get the money transferred over as quickly as possible so that he can put it towards school supplies (or whatever other assistance is needed to make childrens’ lives better). #WOTP 2018 is proud to announce that YOU helped raise $475 $500 for OST!
