Fartleking w/ the PINK light

Nice turnout today for the last Fartlek run of the month. The temperature was fairly comfortable when we set off around 68F.

Todays route which was measured at 6 miles can be seen in the link posted in the comments section below

Curious to hear the PAX's feedback on the route today as I really enjoyed it. I thought it had a nice mix of elevation changes none of which were too taxing.

Most of the PAX choose to run at an EZ pace today. That being said we had our usual pace bullies out there today (Tagless, Little Finger). Unfortunately for Little Finger he was going too fast for any of us to notice that he took a wrong turn on the Greenway and ended up doing his 6 miler mostly Han Solo. I am glad he made it back safely and put in his six.

Most of you that have run w/ me have seen me w/ my Noxgear running vest. The vest has multiple colors and today I choose to run w/ the Pink light on. I did this to honor Samantha Davis, a high school XC runner from Union Pines, that unfortunately collapsed this weekend during a XC race in South Charlotte and later died that night as a result. She was 4K into her 5K race when she collapsed. Many XC teams and runners yesterday went out and ran the last 1K on her behalf. Using the Twitter #1KforSamanthaDavis you can see those that participated in honoring her. Today I choose to run my last 1K at a faster pace to honor her. Even though I personally did not know her or ever meet her this really hit me and shook me up. Please pray for her family, teammates, coaches, classmates and friends during this time.

Here is a link regarding that unfortunate tragedy. https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a23410343/high-school-runner-samantha-davis-dies-after-race/

There is also a Gofundme page that is raising $$$ to help her parents with various costs. The link is here if anyone is interested. https://www.gofundme.com/funds-for-samantha-davis?pc=&rcid=r01-153774150045-7cdde44e14c64ae8

Hate that this had to remind me to be thankful for each and every day I am alive and to cherish my family and friends. You never know when it is your time so please be sure to give your family and loved ones the best you each and every day.

Again I am very thankful to be able to Q such a great group thank you for the opportunity and for comming out in the gloom.

Please consider signing up on the calendar to Q Fartlek. Great opportunity for those that have attended to make it your own. Look forward to seeing what you have in store for us.
