A Marathon Reunion of Sorts

Warm-o-rama:

Run approximately one mile around Bailey Road Park, finishing up at the entrance to the track. Well, unless you're Garcia and you inexplicably show up for a solo 3 minute run at 4:56am before circling back to pick up Honeybee and Beetlejuice for another five-eights of a mile before looping back to pick up the full group at 5:10am. Garcia runs #allthemiles.

The Thang:

12 repetitions of 2:00 on followed by 1:30 off with the on segments being run at approximately 5K effort or 40-45 seconds below projected marathon pace for those with a goal race on the horizon. YHC called out the run/rest transitions.

Moleskin:

YHC settled in with Beetlejuice, Garcia, 8-Track and Honeybee for the first repetition. True to form they set a blistering pace, each blaming the other but refusing to be the one to back off.

Repetitions 2 through 9 I tagged along with The Count and T-Bone. In a display that would have made Goldilocks proud, The Count alternated shedding layers of clothing and adding them back every other lap. He was too hot, he was too cold. I'm not sure he was ever just right.

By the way, if you find yourself running on the BRP track in the morning, listen for the donkey. You can hear him in the field when you're in the far corner of the track. I had completely forgotten about that until The Count pointed it out. Thanks for the laugh.

It was great to see several of the #MBM18 OGs back together and to welcome The Count, 8-Track and Little Finger to the CSAUP fraternity that is marathon training. Even if your end goal isn't 26.2, you were out there putting in work on a frosty morning. Hope to see some other alumnus and even more new faces in the coming weeks.

Aye!
