Fartlek had a low turnout for a post Memorial Day Run, however 4 hard chargers chose to shed the comfort of the fartsack along with any lingering food/beverage hangover to see what YHC had in store. My goal was to get in some exercise of at least 6 miles, lose some holiday weight, and to give the pax a change of scenery with a route we had not run before.
It was good seeing Turnpike show at Fartlek. We hadn't had his presence in some time and it was good to catch up and see how he was doing these days. Maybe we can cajole him into Q'ing Fartlek soon???
I had an initial idea for the route and was waiting to see who showed before I settled on the route. About a third of a mile into our run I called a route audible and we agreed to give a new route a shot.
The route was essentially a 6 1/2 mile out and back course that took us to the Huntersville Business Park Duck Pond. The route can be seen here http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2526648091
When it was all said and done all of the goals I had set out for myself had been met. Thanks to the humidity I lost essentailly four pounds of water/beer weight. Not sure how much of that could also be attributed to the spilling of merlot by YHC on the way back after consuming and disposing of a bug midrun. Puke and Push ON
Appreciated the pax concern for my well being as they stopped or circled back to check on me thus demonstrating the we leave no man behind.
As always I enjoyed the opportunity to Q such a fine group and look forward to the next time.
Also please consider signing up on the Calendar to Q at this great AO and bring your ideas into action.
