Fightclub – Might makes right

Event Date

This morning We worked on a review and extension of what we know.  Joining us was Shikaka who is not yet listed on site.  We have been working on many building blocks for the past few weeks that we will expand on, in order to provide options for every situation.  One of the main barriers that we must push past is the inability to consistently deliver more than one or two strikes.  As we have practiced in the past, we will eventually develop the skill to do three attacks with three strikes for each.  In order to do this we must practice moving our feet, and moving them into a position of advantage. So, this morning we combined two building blocks with a new third in order to give us a sequence to train the mind and body to move.  And as we moved,, we saw that the available targets changed as do the attack angles.  And So, this was the second thing that we focused on this morning.  Focusing on the targets we want to use and the angle of attack that is required for each.  It sounds a bit more difficult than it sounds.  Exposing ourselves to these conditions over and again will allow the mind the ability to recognise these changes and respond appropriately.  And finally the third point of focus this morning was how we control the body and weapons of the opponent as we move during an altercation. This will reduce the ability of the attacker to actually attack and will limit their ability to effectively use these weapons against us.  As YHC was recovering from foot surgery (done two days prior) the energy in the practice was lower than YHC hoped for. I apologize and will make for a more dynamic Fightclub next week.  Some have asked for drills to practice during the week and YHC will develop a set of drills that will help us increase our skill level in between our meetings.

YHC looks forward to next week. I thank you fine men for coming out in the gloom to sharpen my skills as well as each others.
