Double Double IPC

PAX

In the gloom of this Saturday morning at 5:45 a.m. I rolled into Bailey Road Park to complete week four of the IPC. I parked next to the only car in the parking lot thinking that must be an F3 brother.

No luck, as I unloaded my two beautiful hand painted cinder blocks a woman emerged from her truck awkwardly smiled and waved and quickly ran away. In fairness, she was jogging, but I am fairly sure that her warm up was shortened due to a creepy guy wearing gloves and carrying cinder blocks. All I could muster was my best impression of Fezzik, “Hello Lady.”

6 o’clock rolled around, and no PAX. I grabbed a block and my music and left one coupon by my car in case someone showed up and headed down to the Bailey football field. Minutes later Omega, pulled up grabbed the coupon and joined me for the Week Four Iron PAX Challenge.

The THING

Moleskin:

Omega jumped on the challenge like a spider monkey and made that challenge his &!$%# with a score of 29:25 and then proceed to push me to move faster which is not my m.o. I am more slow and steady wins the race or at least survives the challenge in my case.

I surprised myself with a 34:43, which had more to do with Omega pushing me than anything else.

We then walked up to the parking lot were we met Mr. Holland getting ready for BRP. Omega had to get to work, so that left Mr. Holland and me.

Since we had two coupon and Mr. Holland had not had a chance to do the IPC this week he suggested, “Hey maybe we should do the IPC, … if you want”… “Unless you are don’t want to because you are a little &!$%#”. Okay he did not say the last part, but it was clear from his judging eyes that is what he was thinking.

I have experienced many double doubles, but they usually involve two meals or end in “Animal-Style” ala In-N-Out Burger. With Mr. Holland’s encouragement, I pushed through.

Around 7:30 a.m., we were undated with soccer moms and soccer players for an 8 a.m. game. They watched curiously as two knuckle draggers groaned trough exercises and carried our Shat Baby Blocks across the field. With Mr. Holland’s encouragement and my desire to impress the soccer moms (“Hello Ladies”), I pushed through with a time of 40:28.78.

Look for Mr. Holland’s backblast for his perspective and so I can get double credit.

Thank you F3 Greenwood for your efforts in putting this together. I pushed myself much harder than I ever would have this September thanks to you.
