Fightclub – move those feet

We have been investigating the use of the perception of time and distance for the past few weeks. And we will continue this practice in order to create an advantage.  The opponents perception of time and distance can be manipulated to create gaps in his response and his ability to response effectively as his mind tries understand the discrepency in what he percieves versus what is occuring.  Any way, it sounds complicated but is fairly easy to use once the basics are understood. Basically the opponents mind anticipates certain movements determined by what is presented to him or the patterns that have been created.  Using this knowledge we can create what is described as gaps in time and distance.  Its not magic, just a tool of deception.  

But back to reality and practice.  This morning we focused on the combined attack and defense moves. It is best to attack when we defend and control when attacking. All at the same time.  It breaks the cycle of "its your turn and its my turn" in a fight.   These moves have been the focus for the past few weeks but today we made certain that we moved our feet.  It is surprising, but during a crisis situation the feet seem to get planted in cement.  Moving them in practice will help ensure that we can remain mobile.  And the placement of our feet is as important as the strikes we use.  This will determine our balance, the direction we can move and the strikes available to use.  We repeated the same attacks and defenses but changed the placement of our feet.  Larger moves than normal are initially used to combat the bodies reluctance to move. Eventually this will allow natural steps and placement to be used during a confrontation. As we repeat these techniques over and again, we needed to make a few adjustments in how the body moved.  In order to deliver a powerful strike we must utilize rotation. The rotation is driven by the legs and shoulders and the placement of the feet will dictate how this occurs. The more natural this becomes the more powerful a strike will become.  And the only wat to do this is to repeat, repeat and repeat again until the body teaches itself how to do all these things at the same time. 

Soon we will be engaging in active combat to test the responses in a stressful environment.  But first we will go back to the basics and controlling the body.  It will be a good time to come and join us.  With the tensions growing in this country we want to be able to respond to any threat if and when one presents itself to us.
