Writer’s Block

Event Date

Oct 15, 2019

Six of MIL’s finest came to the Quarry on a cool and foggy morning to grapple with a case of pre-blast writers block and look inward to find some inspiration.  ‘Twas a nice rack

The Thang:

Man in the Middle

Three groups: One on either side of parking lot approximately 40 yards apart.  One group is the "man in the middle".  Continuous exercise on either side, the "man in the middle" group runs to relieve that team on the exercise.  That group then becomes the man in the middle, and then relieves the other side.  Continue for 6-7 minutes.

The rounds were:

  • Mericans – Squats

  • Burpees – LBCs

  • Lunges – Mountain Climbers

  • Planks – CDD

Mary

  • Ankle Ups

  • High Flutter

  • Low Flutter

  • Low Dolly

  • Box Cutter

  • 60 second leg lift

  • Dying cockroach

  • Jack-knife

  • Mason twist

Moleskine

  • Few questions raised on the subliminal meaning of the inspirational image sent around with the pre-blast. Whatever one may find for inspiration is in the eye of the beholder

  • The inspiration for today’s workout involved the Q not having to do much, if any, counting

  • If you take an average of the exercise form demonstrated by the two partners, then you may be really close to showing the proper exercise form

  • We did some swinging today to mix up the teams during the Man in the Middle and expand the dialog opportunities

  • One downside of wearing a weight vest is that there is a tendency to have the vest choke you out during the CDD

  • While we can usually see Pax’s breath during the workouts for different reasons (halitosis is in fact visible with the naked eye if you look hard enough), it was refreshing to see Pax breath for other reasons like cooler temps

  • The 4th Annual Mark Friday Memorial Tennis tournament will be held on Saturday December 7th at Prosperity Athletic Club. Some may be planning to enter the tournament to win both the tennis (official) and craft beer (unofficial) competitions….

  • Prayers lifted up for Surf’s grandma who has some blood clots in her lungs and some future difficult family decisions and discussions around longer term care options

  • Great work men!
