Last Fatso in LKN

3 men joined YHC in the gloom this morning for 5+ miles of rucking along the Bikdale golf course. As I pulled into the parking lot, a few drops of rain fell despite nothing on the weather app mentioning rain. A mile into the course, a steady downpour of chilly raindrops fell which soaked the top half of the body while the puddles did a fine job of soaking the sneakers. This led the Q to opine that we must have needed the OTB event to be more CSAUP-y to get more participation.

Speaking of opining, I got my answer to the question posed in my last back blast about why other ruckers weren’t joining us. It’s because I am too slow. You might be tempted to think that Hacker was setting the pace this morning and it’s true that at one point he mentioned his HR which was what mine is when I get out of bed in the morning. But the fact is that our guest Ironman — Holiday — was the first one out of the gate and he was in the lead (or tied) most of the way.

Which leads me to the reality that I may be the last fat man in LKN. It’s going to take a lot of work if I want to drop enough weight to keep up with all the fit guys. Either that or accept that I have to jog 10 out of every 100 yards to keep up while maintaining a HR of 165 the entire time.

Still — glad to have the new participants this morning. Would welcome a repeato on Saturday when we attempt to get in 8 miles from PAINinsula (Jetton HT). Though if Hacker and Holiday join us, I may have to swap out the steel plate for a yoga block in an attempt to cut weight and keep up. Aye!
