Trivia at The Estate (Shark Week – Day 5 of 5)

FNG-1 = Freedom 2.0 Tornado Ally, FNG-2 = Turnpike 2.0 Darth Vader

Shark Week (5 years / 5 Q’s), Day 5: By popular demand, today saw the return of trivia to The Estate.  I’ve had a classic recipie that has evolved over the years… ask a trivia question, run a lap, right answer = pain, wrong answer = more pain.  Today’s theme: Sharks*.

WARM-O-RAMA:

Mosey lap around the parking lot.  Mix in side shuffle, high knees, butt kickers, quadraphilia, and on to the track with blocks.  SSH x 15 IC, arm circle – baby / big baby / chinook, Windmill x 15 IC.

THE SHOW:

Run a lap while considering question 1: I’m named after Jaws, the Eagles QB Ron Jaworski.  Jaws played for THREE other NFL teams, name two of the other teams.  Answer: drafted by LA Rams and spent 3 years there, decade in Philly before being benched for a rookie Randall Cunningham in mid-1986, 1-year backup to Dan Marino in Miami (never played), with one final year (and several starts) for the Chiefs.  Pax got this WRONG (got the Rams but guessed Jets and Colts); pickup your blocks for bent-over row and full curl.

Run a lap while considering question 2: How many times have the San Jose Sharks won the Stanley Cup?  Answer: zero (and they’ve only gotten to the finals once, despite several very good teams!).  Pax got this WRONG; that’s two in a row, we are NOT off to a good start!  Line up on the hill for a burpee ladder; OYO 8 burpee, sprint the hill, 2 diamond merkin at the top, down the hill 6+4, 4+6, 2+8.  PLEASE get the next one right…

Run a lap while considering question 3: Whenever the San Jose Sharks go on the power play during a home game, a song is played.  What song: Pool Shark by Sublime, Jaws theme song from the movie, Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin, Baby Shark?  Answer: Jaws movie theme.  Pax got this right!  People’s chair with air press for ~60 seconds, incline merkins x 15 IC.

Run a lap while considering question 4: During the filming of Jaws, director Steven Spielberg nicknamed the prop shark head “Bobby” after someone he knew.  Who was the real-life Bobby?  Spielberg’s ex-wife, Spielberg’s father, Spielberg’s lawyer, The Paramount Studios main gate security guard in 1977.  Answer: the lawyer.  Pax got this WRONG!  Back to the blocks; full curl x 15 IC, rock squat x 15 IC.

Run a lap while considering question 5: Jaws was also a character from the 007 James Bond series, and has appeared in TWO Bond films.  Which ones?  Answer: Spy Who Loved Me & Moonraker.  Pax got partial credit for getting Moonraker but not the other.  So we offered a double-or-nothing… another question, get it right – mid-workout mobility, get it wrong – back to the burpee ladder.  Question: actor Richard Kiel played Jaws in both films.  In which Adam Sandler movie did he also play a prominent role?  Answer: Happy Gilmore, he played Happy’s boss who taunts Shooter McGavin at several points during the film.  Pax got this right!  Mid-work mobility moment was very well-received.

Run a lap while considering question 6: In the song Baby Shark, the work “shark” makes up what percentage of the lyrics?  <1%, 4%, 8%, or 16%?  Pax got this correct, 8%!  We did something easier, my memory is getting fuzzy.

Run a lap while considering question 7: Which of the following was NOT the title of a Sharknado sequel?  Global Swarming, Trail of Blood, The 4th Awakens, Oh Hell No!  Pax got this correct, Trail of Blood (that was one of the Anaconda sequels).  We started Mary with WW2 x 15 IC and Freddie Mercury.

Run a lap while considering question 8: What year did The Discovery Channel debut Shark Week?  1988, 1995, 2004, 2011?  Answer: 1988, pax got this correct!  Double or nothing, 2.0’s must answer a true/false question, correct answer = immediate recover-recover.  True or False: sharks do not have bones?  Correct answer: true!  They have cartilage which makes up their jaw and vertebrae, but no bones.  Kids got this wrong!  8 count body-builders x 15 IC.

Recover-recover.

MOLESKINE:

Thank you gentlemen for coming out today, and all week!  Lots of double- and triple-down attendees… lots of guys who came to several days of Shark Week.  Special thanks to Jingle Bells and Snake Eyes who came to 4 out of 5 workouts during Shark Week, the support was VERY much appreciated.

Let’s also remember to lift up our brother Cash from F3 The Fort.

These Shark Week shenagins have been a woinderful way for me to celebrate five years of F3 making me a better man in more ways than just physical.  Hopefully we ALL can enjoy at least another five.  Thank you all for the push, the lift, the friendship.  See you in the gloom…
