Cobains for the late backblast. I had intended to fire this off yesterday, but the day got away from me.
It was the last Monday of the month, which at #ArniesArmy means time to #Murph. YHC had already chatted up Tuffy while at Dad's camp about meeting up, and Auto had HC'd to YHC the evening prior for both the #Murph and a #Standard.
Auto and YHC left Jason's Deli parking lot (which seems more torn up each month) at 0500 for the #Standard, and while it was overcast, nothing was falling at that point. Roughly 1 mile into our run, it began to drizzle. YHC remarked that this was actually welcome and refreshing, much like the drizzle we had on Saturday morning at Dad's camp.
By mile 1.5, when we were (of course) farthest from our starting point, it was full on pouring. As in couldn't see right in front of us. We began to discuss backup plans for the #Murph. Auto was proposing to run another mile or two because (a) we were already soaked and (b) there's no way anyone else was going to show at this point, right? We were about to run past the Jason's Deli lot and up Birkdale Commons when we heard a honk from a car behind us, turning into the lot. We reversed course and ran in. The car parked, and out popped Tuffy, ready to #Murph.
Because the rain was unrelenting at this point, we decided to reconvene in the Birkdale Village parking deck behind TCBY. Following a short warmup consisting of IST and Windmills, we completed a modified #Murph, as follows:
- Curb Dips x 20 OYO
- Mericans x 10 IC
- Squats x 15 IC
Repeato till 10 sets. Recover, recover.
MOLESKIN:
- Thanks to Auto and Tuffy for the accountability. I could have easily done nothing this morning, and likely would have had you guys not posted.
- Auto and YHC weren't sure whether it was going to rain or not, and ended up getting caught in it. But Tuffy actually saw the downpour on his way to the AO and kept driving. He was ready to hop out of the car and complete a regular #Murph, in the pouring rain. Tclaps.
- Tuffy remarked that he was planning to knock out the pullups that we were unable to do this morning later in the day. This is a man who loves the #Murph.
- We weren't the only F3 group in the Birkdale parking deck behind TCBY. Shortly after we arrived, another clown car rolled in with Deep Dish, Little Professor, and Holiday, who got a kettlebell beatdown in at the other end of the deck. Nice work, guys.
- Appreciate this group. Thanks as always to Auto and Eeyore for the EH back in June 2016.
Aye,
TC
