Chalk & Challenges In The Heat

FNG1 = Yogi

It was super hot, 89 degrees at start. YHC had a full plan for block work and some a few challenges along the way. While walking the parking deck to draw up the stations, relics from the past began to appear before my very eyes – Old block stations from Nite Stick, blockNado segements from Jaws and something illegible from Mr. Hand. As an old mentor once told me: "Work less, not more" and in that spirit, we got underway.

Warmup:
25 SSH
10 Toy Soldier
10 Windmill
10 Carrot Puller

The Thing:

Start with the Weird Al – Eat It Challenge. Hold a plank through the whole song and do a Merkin whenever you hear "Eat It". ~3.5 minutes of Weird Al goodness.

Jog down 1 level to the PullUp spot where we had a Hang Challenge. Who could hang from the "bar" the longest. Most dropped off pretty quickly and some didn't even start. The final 2 were Papa Smurf and Something with Papa Smurf just edging out Something when his gloves started slipping.

Jog to Blocks in the basement to begin the gaunlet
20x Squat Curls
10x Block Merkins
Zamporini 1 Level Up
20x Lunge Curl Press (NiteStick's handwriting)
20x LBCs
Zamporini 1 Level Up
Pick 2 items from Jaw's blocknado list (the Pax fav was 20x Chest Press & 20x Russian Twist

Zamporini back down the basement hitting the station again for Round 2 which was done at 50% reps on the way up and 25% reps on the way down.

Finale:

With 10 minutes left it was time for the final challenge – Sprint Races behind the fire station! Papa Smurf had the option to race or judge, he handed the reins over to Yogi and joined the race. A 40ish yard track was marked up where the pax would race as a group from one end to the other, last place is out and heads over to the consoliation circle for Mary. The final heat was Pit Stop and Freedom – still waiting on the photo finish to see who the winner was…

Moleskin:

Appreciated the opportunity to lead and had an awesome time. We turned a super hot evening into a really sweaty super hot evening, but a few highlights from this nonsense:

  • Something lost a shoe during the sprint race meaning his gear failed him in both the challenges.
  • Cros & Swanson ran the standard and both came back completely gassed and barely able to breathe for most of the night
  • Jenny was in usual form crushing every exercise and making it look easy.
  • Jaws and Freedom have wheels, taking first place in their first 3 sprint heats respectively – but Jaws gassed out early, next time I think we'll see him take the crown from Freedom
  • Camelback and Honeysuckle Blue were on the struggle bus in the heat, but they powered through and showed zero quit
  • The hang challenge was no joke and Papa Smurf looked like he could have hung around for a few more hours if we weren't all ready move on. Super impressive.
  • Burning Bush's hair is the best it's ever been. Pax decided he shouldn't cut it any time soon.
