The Titan 10k – a new Route

After a recent Titan 5 miler documented here, Jaws was overly kind in his praise of YHC.  Did I avoid getting lost that day?  Sure.  Could YHC repeat that at the next 5 Titan 5 milers?  Meh…not sure.  The next 10?  Probably not.

It felt like Titan needed a new route.  One with less turns.  A new route for anyone who is "directionally challenged".

Today's new 10k route was just that:

  • Start at Hopewell High and run out on Rainy Bend Dr
  • Turn left onto April Mist Trail
  • Right onto Beatties Ford Rd for a short stretch
  • Left onto Neck Road.  Take that all the way to and through Rural Hill, and touch "The Rock"!
  • Return the same way, though we cut through the Latta neighborhood on the way back to avoid the stretch on Beatties.

That's right, we did a rock run on a Monday!

Moleskin:

  • Was hoping to cover 6 miles.  According to Jaws and Tantrum, we covered 6.2 miles = 10 kilometers.  My Strava shows 6.53 miles but that was sans Garmin watch.
  • We ended a little late, at ~6:30.  The Pax were cool with that, though we agreed next time we'd start this route at 0515.
  • The route is mostly safe, though any stretch on Beatties Ford Road brings the possibility of having to step off the road.  The west side of Huntersville was not designed with runners in mind.
  • Bootlegger looked great for someone who claims not to have run more than 5 miles in one go lately.
  • Tantrum is contemplating taking a tour through the water treatment plant.  He really likes that place.  He's also known since Saturday that today was going to be 6 miles plus and was a good sport about it.
  • Titan 5 miler is next Monday, whether Jaws shows is a function of the Cowboys / Eagles game on Sunday night.
  • YHC busted Jaws when the Eagles lost to the Washington Football Team.  But Dallas only managed 3 points and (checks boxscore) 142 total yards yesterday against them.  Yikes.  Thanks for the opportunity to lead bud.

Appreciate the company gents.  Have a great week.
