Knowing I wasn’t quite ready for 3 hours of Polar Bear excitement, I looked for Saturday options on Friday afternoon. I got an HC from a bad knee and then talked a goat into padding his 1k mile goal for 2021. But I was excited to see the PB draw in 3 other men looking for some urban miles. We set off shortly after 0700 as the early group was apparently wrapping up a 5 mile ruck, but I don’t recall that PB. Probably for the best as they surely set a blistering pace compared to our crew. One of the members of the party suggested doing laps around the hospital due to the possibility of a weak intestine, but we were able to apply peer pressure and convince him that if the woods we’d be in were good enough for deer, they’d work for other hooved creatures as well.We might have forgotten the route that meandered around Cedarfield, the business park, Rosedale and the greenway if not for several of the men stopping along the route to “leave their mark”.The course as mapped on laptop yesterday was 7 miles but that included a detour past Duck Donuts which only had 1 taker, and he was eventually beaten into submission for not eating clean. As we returned to the cars at LFC, we showed 6.66 miles on our devices. I offered to take a lap around the parking lot to round out the 7 mile plan, but there was too much interest in coffee so we called it a day.Crimson covered the coffee tab and I shared my nuts #S2K. We may have stayed at LFC until noon, but Goat was called to make a bundt cake delivery so we opted to call it a day. Aside from some chafed legs, I had a blast. When can we do it again?
