When Murder Bunnies Ain’t Enough

Event Date

May 22, 2021

AO

4 men met in maybe the first warm morning of summer.  Sweat happened.  Muscles moved.  Laughter happened.  Ribbing happened.  Teasing happened.  Support happened.  Cursing of the Murder Bunnies happened.  Murder Bunnies evolved…none were too amused.
Here's how it went down.

WarmUp:
SSH, windmills, Merkin shoulder touches, toy soldiers, low country crabs
(YHC forgets dippy birds, what in the world?)

Retrieve 33-ish# concrete blocks from the back.
No pull ups.  ref: Shirley in moleskine.  T-claps bro!

we better warm up the old lower limbs a touch.
Parking Lot fun…all with a mosey back
high knees, butt kickers, monkey walk left/right, bear crawl/crawl bear
on to Murder Bunnies field…

Murder Bunny round 1
MB's with 20 curls at the other end
haha, these are a pain, haha, still much joy…poor lemmings
– side shuffle around the perimeter of MB Field
– Shirley has fond memories of their side shuffle to the clubhouse and back passing a weighted ball
– Anvil was super bummed he missed last week

Murder Bunny round 2
MB Merkins…yep, with a merkin each time.
I only almost broke my wrists once.
At this point, I think the tone changed.
Anvil essentially sprints using his apparently longer than normal arms to throw down some darn amazing speed.
His form coaching skills were on point too.
"You guys aren't throwin' the block far enough in front of you"
"You guys need to jump farther.  Your feet should be a foot in front of the block."
Anvil takes 15 MB's to cross the field.  Us merely mortals were more like 800.
That may be an exaggeration.
MB's were still tough, but his suggestions helped pull us out of the quicksand.
– mosey around block island wondering if Strudel was called to active yard sale duty

Murder Bunny round 3
MB Block Thrusters…yes, MB with a block thruster
not a whole lot of mumble chatter
some suffering for sure
such ache
– mosey part the Boy Scout troop garage sale, Quite A Crowd!!, to the quadraphelia tear down hill
– 4 laps with 5 squats each time at the top

Murder Bunny round 4
MB's with 40 hanging rows

and we're limping back
blocks back

Mary
Freddie Mercury's, low dolly, 'merican hammers

Reflection: Galatians 5: 1
"It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed]"   -Amplified
– this verse of the day struck me a little differently than it maybe would have a few months ago
– I have a lot more freedoms in some ways, but a lot more responsibilities.
– the verse helped me think about why I do what I do, or don't do what I don't do.
– crazy to think I'm still learning at 50
– freedom in Christ will change your thinking, your priorities, and your actions
– worship Him — the Creator of life — who gives freedom, peace, and life everlasting
– peace and blessings to you and yours

Moleskine
– Anvil sporting his new anvil tattoo with “to plan for peace, prepare for war” or similar in Greek. Pretty neat…where to put a Cheetah tattoo…[thinking emoji]

– also, t-claps to Anvil, who just returned from driving 32 hrs straight, all on I-40, by himself, no potty breaks, all on 1 tank of gas, averaging 120mph…I may not have all the details straight, but it’s safe to say, the legend grows.

– Dandelion just wasn’t feelin’ it. Honestly, most of us weren’t feelin’ it. There was a temptation to pack it in and head to coffee at 810. But together, we got it done. Afterwards, Dandelion’s shirt irrigated/killed the asphalt in large quantities. He said he smelled ammonia (a major warning sign of dehydration). Fortunately, workout was over, and he was hydrating. It was a good example of the camaraderie motivating one to wake up and accomplish a huge workout when another hour of sleep would’ve been nice too.

– Shirley being Shirley. He was still swole from his 6 freaking days of Murphs in a row, just finishing #6 before the workout. Bad a$$!! Amazing and nuts simultaneously. T-claps for demonstrating endurance, persistence, and paradigm-busting all at once.

As you can see, these warriors are not your average joes. Super proud and honored to lead them.
