With the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics airing Friday night – the workout had a theme loosely based on the Olypics. We were going to get faster, higher and stronger.
Unlike the dedication showed by the athletes in Tokyo – I was a slacker and am posting a backblast a few days late. I'll blame it on the time difference in Tokyo.
Warmorama –
We did a short lap to mimic the parade of nations and then started with the PLEDGE.
All of your typical warm up exercises were completed – with the typical mumblechatter coming from Jazzy. (it never stops)
FASTER:
– The goal was to run sprints on the baseball field – sadly, the gates to the fields are locked. Change of plans – sprints happened in two groups down by the wall. We split into two groups – each running in a different direction. One up th ehill to towards the back exit, one towards the launch pad. "Sprint" up thehill, and joggy jog back. Next sprint, run in the opposite direction. We completed 10 sprints with a few breaks that consisted on People's Chair and Air Presses.
HIGHER:
– Heading back to the parking lots – we stop at the base of the hill near the playground. To get HIGHER – we would partner up. Parter A would run up the hill (higher than where we started) and do 20 jump squats, while partner B did regular squats at the bottom of the hill X 2 sets each. REPEATO – and then lunge walk up the hill.
STRONGER:
– To get stronger we headed to the rock pile and performed various feats of strength. We took a few laps to the corner of the neighborhood and back – once because Deep Dish couldn't follow directions and once because Jazz Hands was so loud he couldn't hear the Qs directions.
MARY:
– Mosey back to the launch for a few MARY Classics.
Per my watch we got 2.6+ miles in
A lot of PAX I had not seen in a while. It was good to see Soprano for the 3rd time in a week after he was out of pocket for a myriad of reasons lately.
We tried to hit the new Summit Coffee after the workout – but they had a delayed opening due to Friday being their official Grand Opening – maybe next time. Hit the Starbucks and ran into PAX from a few other workouts.
