Here is a great opportunity to give back and serve the local community!
On Saturday April 16th, there is a Community Clean Up day at Smithville Park in Cornelius. Last year, F3 helped out and did a ton of work around the park. The community organizers were so impressed with our efforts from last year they specifically asked F3 to come back and help out again!
We will meet up at Smithville Park at 8:15am for a briefing on the work to be done. Same as last year, we will need trucks, trailers and men to man them. Come prepared to perform physical labor outside – bring gloves, wear appropriate shoes and be ready to sweat. 2.0s are more than welcome as there will be all levels of work that to be done.
Here is some additional information about the event:
The Smithville CommUNITY Coalition and the Catawba North Neighborhood Group are joining forces with the Cornelius Police Department to remove trash, junk, and debris from our neighborhoods. Joining the effort again in this year will be volunteers from area churches, F3 workout groups, and other community organizations.
Accumulated debris is not just an eyesores – it’s also a health hazard. It’s dangerous for children, and often violates town ordinances. Operation Curbside Cleanup gives everyone the chance to fix the problem free of charge.
GET IT TO THE CURB – WE’LL HAUL IT OFF!
That’s right, drag your broken and unwanted items to the curb by 8:00am Saturday, April 15th and our team will haul them away for you. Acceptable items include: broken furniture and appliances, old lawn equipment, broken bicycles, scrap metal and most other bulk items that you simply need rid of. If you are unable to move items yourself, volunteers will assist. Please call or email a few days ahead to make arrangements: 704-957-0762, nmayhew@email.cpcc.edu. Please note, we cannot remove items from inside residences and we cannot accept hazardous materials such as kerosene, paints, solvents, gasoline, etc. – and please no limbs, brush, leaves or yard trimmings.
Put this on your calendars now! I know this starts to be a very busy time of year for all of us. But remember serving, giving back and leading in our communities is culmination of all 3 F’s and is at the core of our mission!
More details and logistics to follow. But for now, add comment here for your HC, or you can contact me on twitter at @bryanrieves
