What: Set your goal. Run 1 mile on the track all out. Achieve your goal. Embrace the adrenaline and enthusiasm.
Last year for BRR training Lex Luther had our team run a one mile time trial. YHC finished in 6:18. Fast forward to this year. I turn 40 on July 28th. I don't care for cars so I can't satisfy the midlife crisis by getting a convertable sportscar. So I set a goal to run one mile in under 6 minutes. At which point YHC plans to recite OKSU football coach Mike Gundy's "talk to me, I'm 40, I'm a man!" rant an obnoxious amount of times for the remainder of the day.
It started as a personal goal. Tantrum has been holding me accountable and pushing me to achieve the goal. Then I up and pull a groin. I'm still going to go all out for the 6 minute mile, and with #fomo and the pax I know I can do it. But it dawned on me that you don't have to be 40 to set an audacious goal and go after it. Strength is in the PAX. And what would our community look like if several men started their day by accomplishing a completely stupid and utterly pointless goal…..but an amazing goal nonetheless….there would be an energy abounding LKN like nothing else, and it would be contageous for everyone else we encounter that day.
So….. no matter your age, no matter your capability. Come post with me. I'll have an index card and a pen. Write your 1 mile target down. Get after it. Kick it in the teeth. And because you are more than a conqueror, spout off "talk to me, I'm a man!"
When was the last time you set a goal, big or small. #doit
#coffeeteria to follow for birthday boys, people off work, Calypso, and people who have a Calypso-esque work schedule (looking at you bankers).
To Friday workout MQ's, I #Urge2Converge.
Sound off with your "aye" and your goal!
