Speed for Need is BACK AGAIN after successfully running the Christina Latini Memorial 8K and Walk, which so many PAX and their families came out to support.   YHC was so impressed by the outpouring of our community, I was inspired to hit the Repeato button for the Race to Zero 5k – a 5k race at Joe Gibbs Racing ("JGR") on Saturday June 2nd.

Now we are called to race Zach and Reid, 9 and 11 year old boys, that have Down's Syndrome.   When Reid's Mom showed him one of the Speed for Need videos his Mom wrote in an email:  "He watched with eyes lit up and said, "Duuuuude, I want to do dat!""  We need volunteers to help push Zach and Reid.  Please HC below in the comments line.

We are also very blessed to have a 3rd rider, Sing, a grown man that was paralyzed in a accident.  Sing has lived with paralyzation of his lower extremities and continues in physical therapy in order to prepare to cross the finish line.  He wants more than anything to participate in this race but doesn't have a way to cross the finish line. That is where the men of F3 and Speed for Need step in. We need YOU to step up to help push Sing in the Speed for Need racing chair to help him cross the finish line at the Race to Zero 5k.  HC for Sing below.

This race is being run and operated by Above and Beyond Missions Foundation -a non-profit 501(c)(3) provides scholoarships for members in our communty to go on missions trips.  To qualify for a scholarship you have to perform community service hours at a local charity like Loaves and Fishes, Ada Jenkins, Habitat for Humanity and you will earn points to help subsidize your mission's trip.  Above and Beyond has scholarshiped over 800 applicants in our local community.  Above and Beyond is giving back to a local charity and the rest of the proceeds will be used solely to scholarship people that need financial help going on a missions trip.

If you are not familiar with Speed for Need by now, then please know that its mission is to raise awareness and foster inclusion of those with a special need through participation in fitness events supported by the men of F3 Nation.

We push Track Commanders (riders with a special need) in customized racing wheelchairs to help them participate in and complete fitness events such as 5Ks, 10Ks, or marathons – experiences that they would not be able to have on their own.

Track Commanders lead the way in every Speed for Need event. The synergy created between the Track Commanders, drivers, runners, and spectators helps:

  • raise awareness for social causes
  • encourage inclusion
  • connect Track Commanders with F3 Nation and the overall fitness community

The Track Commanders motivate us and others to step up, engage, and be servant leaders. So the question stands…
