Welcome to the second annual Bourbon Lottery For Titan!
For a lot of Lake Norman guys, Monday isn’t the best day, and Hopewell High School isn’t your closest AO. For me it is, and its home. But winters can be slow and cold, and Titan often only sees a handful of guys each week before warmer weather returns and we all start caring about our 5-10k times again. And last year’s strategy seemed to be popular, so I’ll put some quality bourbon up once again this winter. Here’s how the lottery works;
Eligible weeks are Monday, Dec 28th through Monday, Mar 29th. This is 14 weeks. You can earn up to three tickets in this lottery drawing:
- One lottery ticket is possible if you Q a workout between now and then. Only 10 of 14 slots are open (I claimed first Monday’s of each month for the traditional five-miler, BEP has March 22 for post-Palmetto stretchy recovery). This leaves TEN eligible Q slots. Website calendar is the Word of God, you can ask me to claim the date, but until it's taken on the website it's open! Q only counts if you write a backblast (it can be skinny, but it can’t be optional – this is how we verify for second ticket).
- Second lottery ticket is possible if you attend 50% of the workouts between Dec 28 and Mar 29. That’s 7 of 14 weeks.
- Third lottery ticket will be voted by the pax in attendance on Mar 29, “the People’s Q”. Vote will be for the best Q during this period. One winner, selected immediately prior to the main Mar 29 drawing.
Note that Mar 29 is the final Monday before Spring Break. So most folks will only have 1-2 tickets in there, pretty even odds if you’re coming regularly! Prize is a bourbon bottle of your choosing (within reason, $50 or so is fine – Tantrum won last year and enjoyed Angel’s Envy – I’m willing to make a pilgrimage to Frugal’s for extra selection too).
