An Expected, Unexpected Visitor almost got lost, then appeared in the gloom at The Mighty Oak

FNG 1 = Jellystone from F3 Crossroads IL, outside of Chicago. Jellystone travels here for work often enough that we need to get him on the website.

05:17 – tweet from Jellystone asking if he was in the right place. Apparently the address led him to the traffic circle, so he checked St Marks, creeped on a lady parked in her car there, then looked for the next closest field and figured it out. I like this guy already.

05:23 – rolled into the parking lot, no one there. Either YHC was sad clowning or everyone was showing up Swing State style this morning.

05:30 – Hotbox popped out in typical style – a DC based sports team hoodie. Hope he wears it during the summer and lives up to his name. 8 more Pax had joined by this point and off we go.

We did the typical warmup things, but started with a bang – some Bam Bams, always a Pax favorite. We utilized the planter space for lots of leg work and some upper body. The plan was for lower body only, but Mr Holland needed to get his 50 merkins in, so…

We also did some bear crawls and pull-ups so we could call it a legitimate boot camp, followed by some solid knees over toes work to round it out.

Oh, and we did prison squats because why not – gotta give Jellystone something to write home about. Roadie was one arming me, Toxic style. Not sure how I felt about it. Still not sure how I feel about it. Was interesting watching Sac try to get all the way down on his prison squats – form took a bit of a hit, thankfully.

Back to Jellystone – the out of towner led us in some Captain Thors to close the workout, which are a great bookend to the Bam Bam warmup. He brings some heat, the kind you get when you're a year and a half into F3 and post in a new area. Gave us a taste of what Popcorn is like when he posts out of town – it was well received.

Lots of chatter today about the Quarter Ruck. No, actually there wasn't, I take that back. Except for Tuffy and Mulligan who already HC'd and couldn't stop talking about it.

Kosar the MQ was not there and was sorely missed. Fortunately two other former MQs were in attendance, and Roadie knew how to instruct the Pax when that car comes around the back school parking lot at 6:05am – "Scatter!"

Estwing was silent but deadly, but not in the smelly sort of way.

Turncoat led us with multiple prayer requests – for Hippie who lost his father, and Bam Bam's family who lost Baxter.

Bam Bam still prefers his Beauty Sleep – so much so he plans to add it as a new AO giving the Pax a 6:30am workout option.
