A QvQ Fight at Viking

11 men came out this morning for a great QvQ matchup. 9 Lives put us through a tough fight, but at the end I was able to somehow pull out a close victory over the former QvQ champ that definitely had nothing to do with carbohydrate refuel options being made available afterwards.

WarmOrama – thanks to 9 Lives for using some of his time to get us properly warmed up

  • SSH IC
  • IST IC
  • Long Snappers IC
  • Apolo Ohno's IC

9 Live's 22.5 minute Thang accompanied by Irish-themed tunes for an Irish fight (apologies in advance for not remembering any of it correctly!)

  • Mosey to the lower parking lot
  • Squats but Burn Boot Camp style with a pump that Scrappy thought would enhance his glutes
  • Fighting position – left and right jabs IC with Turnpike showing off some fancy footwork
  • Mericans but Burn Boot Camp style with a pump
  • Lots of footwork prep with line hops side-to-side, front to back, and split hops
  • Rocky Balboa's on the curb but with arm raises thrown in that truly tested my coordination
  • Partner up – P1 reverse high knees down the hill and back up while P2 does some rope work with more punches (just picture the training montage from Rocky IV – we looked exactly like that) – repeato 5 rounds

Gambini's 22.5 minute Thang filled with relay race fun

  • Quick mobility moment while the PAX counted off 1's and 2's to form teams
  • Mosey over to the snack shelter for the first relay race
  • Teams did wall-sits while 1 member ran around the shelter at a sprint-like pace until the team was done. Winning team selected 15 reps for the losing team – 15 mericans OYO, while winning team planked
  • Mosey over to one of the many hills for the second relay race
  • Teams did 11-1 hill ladder with jump squats at the top and squats regular at the bottom until all team members finished. Winning team picked 15 knees to elbows for the losers while the winner were supposed to do 6-inches.
  • Mosey over to the barely lit tennis courts for the third relay race
  • Teams competed in a cluster-like version of suicides on the tennis court for what was supposed to be 5 down and backs. The winning team selected 15 jacknife LBC's for the losers after no one had the guts to call 15 burpees, the winners planked.
  • Mosey up the hill and back to the snack shelter for the final relay race
  • Teams did wall-sits again while 1 member sprinted around the shelter and since there were no losers in today's workout we all did 5 burpees OYO exactly at 6:15 to finish just like I planned

Moleskin

  • Thanks to Waffle House for allowing us to take over Viking this morning
  • Great group this morning for my 1st QvQ battle – great effort from everyone
  • Good working out with some PAX I haven't worked out with before – Ponch, Blackbeard, Canuck, and Amen (and good luck to Amen in his upcoming QvQ!)
  • Ponch led us out in prayer
  • Almost everyone loaded up on carbo refuel options after – some PAX were more disciplined than others
  • Finally, thanks to 9 Lives for a great 1st half of the workout. Always great to be able to participate in a 9 Lives Q, always something creative. Looking forward to the next fight.
