7 brave warriors ventured out of the friendly confines of LKN in search of taller hills then Granite Hell. What they found was Independence Pass outside Aspen CO. At the trailhead we had a little rain, so we climbed and the rain stopped, some might even say the sun came out. Then after approaching the first lake we saw something in the sky that started as fun and then turned into a driving snow storm and high winds. We reached the summitt (the mtn not the coffee shop), the clouds parted, we got a great view of the lake and then got off that mountain. Once we dropped below the sun came out and all was good and we returned to normal elevation. In total we got 4.6 miles, 1400 ft of vertical, and topped out at 12,800 in the sky.
