YHC signed up the other day for Fartlek and….
Ok, no I didn’t. MQ Turnoike hit me up about 6 months ago and I couldn’t exactly tell him my 4th quarter was full. So I signed up and to ensure I’d be ready, I hired Tuffy and Tammy Faye to train me. Once we finished the Huntersville Half, Tuffy agreed I was ready Q Fartlek
But after fartsaking and traveling and eating and drinking A LOT since the HH, I decided to keep the amount of running balanced with 12 different exercises along the way. Some wanted to name this a “Run the Ruff”. Who knows what that is but it sounds like something you do in the wilderness…
So 6 pax including the Q set out to do all the exercises of the 50ForFitness challenge but only a taste of each. We did them in order – Jan at the 1st street, Feb at the 2nd, etc.
In all we logged an impressive (?) 2.25 miles. Exercises were as follows:
Jan = 50 burpees
Feb = 50 jackknife LBCs/Leg
Mar = 50 merkins/day. Goal of 50 non-stop by end of month
April = J-Lo. 50 in cadence.
May = 50 Hip Dips per side
June = Suns Out Guns Out challenge. 50 curls each arm. Choose your own weight but goal of increasing by 50% by EOM
July = Guns Challenge continues with 50 dips or skull crushers a day. In cadence!
Aug = Keep up that Summer 6-pack you carved in April and May! 50 WWII sit-ups single count.
Sept = 50 Christian McCalf-Raises. In Cadence
Oct = 50 Suzanne Summers/leg. 25 more for extra credit.
Nov = sets of 50 second stretches, with requirement to post at Stretch at least once in March
Dec = Mini-Murph: 10 pull-ups, 20 merkins, 30 squats
No pax were in a hurry so we chatted a bit in COT about our parents, the pax, the meaning of Christmas and more. Then Kumquat, Jorel and I went to Coffeteria where we join 100% of the pax from Fallout (Peart Plus and Gambini). Great chatter there as well. Great time with pax.
Come get the full version Sat, Dec 31 at Mighty Jungle. Got a few patches left.
Appreciate you leading The Force! Also T-Claps for the year long fitness challenge, an excellent idea with even better execution.
