No Q – No problem!

7:00 rolls around and four brave souls venture into the unknown. Since there was no Q on the schedule – we all felt Freed to Lead. FNGs (but not really) we’re Backdraft and High Country.

Sonar warmed us up:

15 IC side straddle hops

15 IC mountain climbers

(Right about this time Abrams drives in like he forgot we start at 7:00 – but let’s be real, that’s just how he drives)

15 IC imperial storm troopers

Backdraft takes over and heads to the first chute in the parking lot for some elevens

  • run to the top, ten burpees, run to bottom, one jump squat
  • run to the top, nine burpees, run to bottom, two jump squats
  • repeat in declining/increasing fashion until you’re at 1 burpee / 10 jump squats #CrowdPleaser

Abrams takes over and we head to the block pile

  • In an experimental version of “one more”, one pax does one rep, the next pax does two reps, the next pax does three reps and so on until someone gives up. Just for added fun, somewhere along the line, Abrams decides that all the pax not currently doing the exercise will Zamperini with their block until it’s their turn (#CrowdPleaser2). We got to somewhere around 21 or 22 curls.
  • Switch to to skull crushers but no resting this time. We just move to the next pax counting while everyone does the exercise. This did not last long…
  • Run a lap around the band practice field
  • On your back with blocks up in front of you. Another round of one pax does one, next pax adds one while the others hold the block over their chest. Not sure what you call the exercise but beginning with the block above your chest, raise (lower?) it above your head to the ground and bring it back to the original position.  This silliness went on for some time 14? 15?

High Country takes the helm and decides he wants to do more curls…with the tables in front of the gym. So we take the long way around.  Backdraft bids us farewell and the four remaining take on the task.

  • 15 table curls

  • 15 squats

It’s Cornholio’s turn and he wants to check out the flipping tire…it’s right there but let’s take the long way with a parking lot lap to get there.

Now about this tire…no not that tire…the BIG ONE!

All four pax work together to flip the big tire and then do an exercise on the tire

  • five tire flips out
  • 20 step ups (10 each leg)
  • five tire flips out
  • 15 incline merkins
  • five tire flips out
  • 15 decline merkins
  • Now flip it all the back

  • I love spontaneous community Qs. Everyone brings it and it always ends up being a tough workout with plenty of opportunity for griping to the Q of the moment.
  • Starting off with 55 burpees mixed with hill runs was “fun”
  • Adding the Zamperini to the block fun changed the whole dynamic
  • Sonar may or may not have taken advantage of his height disadvantage when curling the table
