Pax choice: either run the 5 miler or 4bang the 4 miler. In the end the pax chose to 2bang a 4.75 miler.
Good times. 4.75 miles. 9:01 pace
Moleskine:
- Running was tough this morning. We debated. Was there some heaviness in the air? Nope, turns out that super bowl food is not conducive to fueling a run the next day.
- The lost (or perhaps dazed and confused?) Amazon driver provided for some excitement as we had to keep our head on a swivel because you never knew which road he was going to pop out of next. And by pop out I mean tokyo drifting. But he had his hazzard lights on for safety so there’s that.
- Chinese spy balloons were discussed.
- As was the impact of Tony Hawk skateboarding video games on our lives.
- The three 45+ guys gave some advice to Vandalay about turning 40 (though he is two years away, grumpy old-ish men will always take the opportunity to impart quasi-wisdom). Not sure why but we got way too in depth on colonoscopy prep.
- Tantrum and Vandalay took advantage of living close by to meet the standard by running in to the AO.
- What I learned today: Every AO has its “usuals”. Sometimes we talk about it being a bad thing; like people don’t branch out. I get the idea of that and I have said the same thing. But today proved that there is comfort in being steady. In knowing that when there is the opportunity for pax to have an excuse (late night super bowl party, cold weather, etc) there are at least a few pax you can count on to show up, and press on with you. So be a regular attendee at an AO. Maybe pick just one so that you can be flexible the other days of the week. But find one. Be that dependable stalwart that the AO and the pax need. Live 3rd in that aspect and you’ll end up 1st….. chew on that for a bit and it will make sense.
