The third annual Mountain Island Lake F3 (MILF3) “Get Your Rear in Gear” sprint triathlon will be held on Saturday May 27th starting at 8:00am. All proceeds collected from this year’s race benefit Shining Hope Farms, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enable children and adults to reach their full potential through the use of equine assisted activities and therapies.

The race will start and finish at the boat launch/gazebo area and include a ~1/2 mile swim from the boat launch, a ~12.5 bike course that will be three 4+ mile loops primarily on the main road of Overlook Mountain Drive and then a ~3 mile run thru the neighborhood.

Note that since an open water swim can be a little intimidating, this year we are also offering a pool swim option to start the race at the Overlook pool (3800 Mountain Cove Drive) that will also start at 8:00am. The pool swim will be 25 lengths of the 25-yard pool, or however many lengths you feel like doing
We will be offering both an individual race option as well as a family relay / phone a friend option for completing the race. Individual participation fee is $25 and the fee for a relay team is also $25 per team.
Note that there will be hand crafted adult beverages available after the race, since that is how we race in the MIL.
We had a great turnout for last year’s race and are looking to get even more kids, families and adults involved for this year’s installment. It’s a whole lot of fun and fellowship for a great cause!!!

-Take main road into Overlook Neighborhood in NW Charlotte off of Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd (Overlook Mountain Dr.)
-Go straight thru first stop sign at Mountain Cove Drive.
-Go straight thru second stop sign at Overlook Cove Drive.
-Take the next left AFTER the stop sign at Overlook Cove Drive (Unnamed road – boat launch)
