We had a VERY scary moment last night. Please share this with everyone you know. I certainly I am.

Kris and I went out for an amazing meal for our 26th anniversary last night. Early reservation at Link & Pin so we could watch the Tar Heel game at 7:30. Decided to drop by Target just for a second after dinner – about 7PM. Kris wanted to wait in the car (2020 KIA Telluride dark green). I said ok, “Want me to leave it running?"  She said please, so I said, "Ok, but lock the doors.” I will thank God forever I said that as I got out of the vehicle.

I was inside for maybe 10ish mins.

After less than 10 mins, as Kris was in the car looking down at her phone (phone light on, so obvious she was there), 3 men approached the vehicle and shook the door handle trying to get in. Without looking up, she hit the unlock thinking it was me back at the car. Prayerfully, they had paused. She looked up, saw them then locked the doors again just before they tried the handle again.  They realized it was locked again and walked away. Got into a white sedan and drove off.

Can't help but think – what if they’d tried that handle when she unlocked it, or what if she’d never locked the doors. The men must have seen me get out, go into the store then made their move.

Will never know if they were after Kris, the vehicle, her purse or something else but I am shaking with anger and fear at what could have been.

Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Keep your doors locked. Please tell your wives, moms, kids, brothers and sisters and friends.

I could be overreacting but I cannot stop thinking about the worst that could have happened on our 26th anniversary last night…

I did drive the parking lot for 10 mins looking for the vehicle or suspicious men thinking they may have just moved their car and might try to hit someone else. I think I’m glad I didn’t find them. We then called 911 and reported it to the police.  I also called Target today and reported it to a manager who is turning it over to security to review camera footage.

I am beyond thankful for Kris’ safety last night.

Please share with anyone you like. The more people who know the more aware everyone might be. Sadly we have to all be on alert – even at 7pm at Target in Huntersville. Evil is everywhere.
