Ace in the Hole

Four found the will, determination and drive to lift some stuff on a cold fall morning. Pulled a last minute switcheroo with Tonka so I could have the Q this week. Confused Shirley a bit.

Parking lot fun – high knees, butt kickers, karoke both ways and a bear crawl up. At the top we hit the speed ladder for some 2 in 1 out, 2 in 2 out, jj in out, 1 leg hops and then Merkins with 1 in each square then 2 in a square. 

The Thang

Mosey to the back and get a block – seems to have been a mass destruction of blocks by someone (the neighbor with the dog maybe?). 

We had a deck with 24 cards – 10, J, Q, K, A from each suit plus 4 randonly drawn "wild cards". Three upper body exercises (Block pullovers, 1 arm block press, Trifectas) and three lower body (block jump squats, block kickstand deadlifts, walking block lunges). 

Three rounds were completed by choosing a card for the number of reps (10, J=11, Q=12, K=13, A=21…..yes, 21). We alternated between upper and lower body.  Between rounds we went on a trail run and had a 10-count. 

Round 3 came without a single Ace being turned….but fortunately, ALL FOUR appeared in round 3 (I have witnesses that the cards were shuffled and cut!). The 21 walking lunges and 1 arm overhead presses were crown favorites for sure.

Back to the AO for anothe rround of speed ladder as before and that wrapped up the free workout.

Reflection

Christ told us that once we set our hand to the plough we were not to turn back. In other words, be "all in". So as we went through the workout the question is, "Did you want the Aces or not?" The 21 reps is the thing that would be best for us….make us "all in". But sometimes we seek less than the best. Serendipitously the 4 Aces all came up at the end and gave us the chance to really push ourselves (truly was not planned). Let us do the same for Christ – let's be all in.

Great to see Shirley again as our schedules have not meshed.

Cheetah did a little better counting this time….until the 21 walking lunges!!!
