REFLECTION
Today we recognize Bruce Crandall, born on this date in 1933. In November of ‘65 Major Bruce Crandall piloted a Huey helicopter in Operation Power Pack, more commonly known as the Battle of Ia Drang, and memorialized in the book and movie “We Were Soldiers.” Crandalls landing zone sustained continuous enemy fire, and was ordered shutdown by the ground commander. However, Crandall and his wingman disregarded the order, and flew 22 missions in and out of LZ X-Ray, delivering supplies and ammo, and evacuating at least 75 wounded Soldiers over 16 hours. In 2007 Crandall was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his action.

9 noble pax joined YHC on this otherwise unremarkable morning to albeit unknowingly, celebrate the birthday of someone none of us know personally. Lots of great chatter as usual. Bertha was unsure if it was leg day or arm day, or why he failed to check the calendar. As Scope pointed out: at least we didn’t have to hear about ‘Bama. Pleasure to be a part of this fellowship. Appreciate y’all, mean it.
