AO

Seven of Mountain Island’s finest showed up to christen the Cobalt tennis courts backdropped against The Cream’s song of “Anyone for tennis, wouldn’t that be nice?”

Warm-up

  • High knees, Butt kicks, Side shuffle step x 2

  • Side straddle hop, Toy soldier, Windmill and ‘Bericans I/C

The Thang

Mosey onto the resurfaced tennis courts to break them in F3 style.

Part I

Set of exercises followed by a sprint of approx 20 yards then jog back. Note: I'm pretty sure we did all of these…

  • Sprint 20 yards and jog back. Repeato x 6

  • 6 jump squats sprint repeato x 3

  • 6 mericans sprint repeato x 3

  • 6 apollo anton ohno sprint repeato x 3

  • 6 Carolina dry dock sprint repeato x 3

  • 6 mericans sprint repeato x 3

  • 6 LBC repeato x 3

  • 6 squats, sprint repeato x 3

  • 6 jump lunges, sprint repeato x 3

  • 6 burpees, sprint repeato x 3

  • Sprint 25 yards and walk back. Repeato x 3

Part II

Form a line at baseline of one of the courts for alternating bear crawl and crab walk around the freshly painted lines of one of the courts.  Initial plan was to go all around one side of the court, but Pax made a strong argument with the aid of geometry that we could cut the rectangle in half by using the back of the service court line. Upon reflection, this turned out to be a great argument

  • Bear crawl along baseline and side of doubles court, then crab walk back on service box and other side of doubles court for a rectangle

  • Crab walk along baseline and side of doubles court, then bear crawl back on service box and other side of doubles court

  • Bear crawl along baseline and side of doubles court, then crab walk back on service box and other side of doubles court for a rectangle

Mary

Pax elects to stay on the smooth surface of the tennis courts for Mary.  This just may become a new Cobalt thing.  Sampler platter of exercises from each of Pax by request, starting with Oktoberfest since he is typically skipped (Arizona was odd man out of this one).

  • Oktoberfest – LBC’s – single count or old school style

  • Dirt – ‘Mericans – single count up to “done”

  • Grip – Reverse plank, aka bridge for 60 secs (whose counting?)

  • Jingle Bells – WWII sit ups

  • El Tigre – mason twist – while it is the same motion, twists from 15 to 20 caused a lot of groans

  • Natty – low dolly

Moleskine

  • Strong showing for a strong workout. Good to get some sprints in for a change

  • El Tigre said we ran over 1.5 miles with all the sprints we did

  • Pax asks “So where's the balls” “and the rackets” mid-way thru workout. Turns out it was all a ruse

  • We did the exercises that came before the sprints “together and on your own”. Could use some more crispness on that one

  • Although El Tigre can bear crawl like a spotted lemur, he can be passed on the crab walk leg

  • Pretty certain if there are more than one Pre-Blast for a workout, its gonna be epic

  • Tennis courts add another option to Cobalt workouts; unfortunately they are too nice for bricks

  • Q greatly appreciates the phrasings of “Good Q” at the end

  • Good second F banter with Dirt and Jingle Bells after the workout

  • Spring break may leave some coverage issues for next week

  • He Is Risen (Amen)?
