Turncoat and his Goat Bustin' friends did an amazing thing last week. They flew out to Arizona and traveled (ran, hiked, walked, climbed, etc.) from one rim of the Grand Canyon to the other. Or in Strava speak: R2R. Some even made the return trip back across to where they started! Or, R2R2R as many posted on Strava !!
Turncoat was almost crazy enough to attend Arnie's Army today, but rightly came to his senses and got some rest. Still, he needed a Q and YHC was glad to help a good friend. We wanted to pay homage to the awesomeness of their CSAUP event.
Here's what we did:
0530:
Disclaimer given.
WARM-O-RAMA:
- No.
The "AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO" thing:
- Run from the AO start by the Birkdale clubhouse to "the bridge".
- 15 Burpees OYO
- Run back to the AO.
- 14 Burpees OYO
- Low Flutters x 15 IC
- LBCs x 15 IC
- Repeato all above ^, decreasing the Burpees to 13 and 12.
- Repeato…11 and 10.
- Etc. All the way to 3 and 2.
So we made 7 trips to the bridge and back, or AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO2B2AO.
Mary:
- See above, mostly.
- 1 Burpee to complete the ladder.
- 15 extra Low Flutters and LBCs (to even up the numbers)
- Elbow plank until time, about 30 seconds.
Recover, recover. Totals:
- Burpees = 120
- Low Flutters = 120 IC
- LBCs = 120 IC
- Miles = 2.03
Moleskin:
- There were probably 10 complaints and / or BS calls today, but none of them were from Tuffy! Appreciate the company my dude and for powering through this workout with no complaining. The 2nd F was great.
- We contemplated the following: Would YHC have completed this workout if solo?
- YHC may have overstated the amount of running we'd do. One could argue 2.03 miles isn't very run intensive, I must have thought the bridge was slightly further away. In reality, it is only ~ 0.15 miles each trip; less than a quarter of a mile.
- A couple of Pax passed on today's workout given the likelihood of the higher (ish) mileage. I hope they were able to post somewhere else and it wasn't inconvenient for them to get there.
- Thank you Turncoat for the opportunity to lead. And thanks to you and all the Goatbusters for the inspriration and very cool pictures of the Grand Canyon trip.
