Battle of Midway


The Battle of Midway was a hard-fought battle that happened June 4-7, 1942. We remembered that battle today with a tough workout and trivia. Here’s what went down:WARMORAMA:Run around the lower field with some side shuffles and Quadriphilia mixed in. Circle up for SSH x15ic, IST x15ic, Carrot Puller x10ic, Iverson x10ic, Windmill x10ic. Mosey to the home-base sidewalk whilst performing large arm Circles.KAMIKAZE:Run the base of the first hill, run back.Run to the top of the first hill, run back.Run to the bottom of the second hill, run back.Run to the top of the second hill, run back.Run to the bottom of the third hill, run back.Run to the top of the third hill, run back.Rules: -Everyone leaves home-base together.-Perform 8 Mericans everytime you get to or pass the base of a hill-Perform 8 Squats everytime you get to or pass the top of a hill-Each time you get back to home-base perform LBCs or go get the 6.Trivia Peppered In At Home Base (in lieu of 10-count rests). The pax were split into 2 teams. If you got the answer right, no burpees. A wrong answer meant burpees x the number you were off the right answer. One team did a lot more burpees (jus saying)-What year was the Battle? 1942-How many days did it last? 4-How many more surface ships did the Japanese have? 1-(5 burpees challenge question) Name 1 US aircraft carrier in the Battle. Yorktown, Hornet, Enterprise.The total distance of this workout is about 2.5 miles. If all repetitions were completed, that was 140 Squats and 148 Mericans for a total of 288. There were 307 US casualties in the Battle, so we did 19 WW2 Sit Ups to honor them.Mosey back to the parking lot for MARY:Low Flutter x ’42 icJLo x12 icPretzel Crunch x ’42 icRECOVER RECOVERMOLESKIN:-Lots of great chatter out there today.-Those fields and hills seemed to keep growing as we progressed.-There also seemed to be some natural teamwork and general teaming up happening among the vastness of the fields.-98 degrees showed up to a well-defined running workout even though he isn’t supposed to run much. He and Elmers made some great modifications and still got a great workout.-Props to Professor and Mr. Holland, maybe Code Blue for opting to get the 6 on several occasions.-Even though this morning was a bit cooler than mornings past, Baller and The Force still shedded some clothing to get more comfortable. Someone mentioned last place each round should have to take something off (strip Kamikaze!)
