Beach Trip 2019 – Fightclub at the beach


Race city was out at the beach as 14 men celebrated the 6th yearly beach trip. After a night of fun and well,, more fun we formed up on the beach at 10 am.  YHC was voluntold to Q and asked to include a @fightclub workout. 13 of the 14 circled up to begin as the temperature inched up above 45. 

We circled up and did the standard warm up.

YHC marked off two lines approx 30 yards apart. Since it was going to be a day of football we would be doing line drills.

As a group we would do an exercise and the run to the other line to do another exercise and repeat until it was time to do something a bit more fun.

Each exercise was followed by a run to the next line.

Now that the body was warmed up we would get into some @fightclub things with a run between each of the techniques

  • basic hand positioning and defensive positioning 
  • Targeting of body parts
  • Blocking
  • Sleeper hold from front and side and shirt choke 
  • Defense from grabs , koto, hand release
  • Attacks to legs
  • Attacks center line (boxing drill and double hook)
  • Leg break, arm break
  • Atemi uses on the arm
  • Using the wrist strikes instead of fist 

We then circled back up and did Mary.

 

The balance of pain and exercise appeared to be enjoyed and we only had a few injuries (actually only pain which should be expected when fighting) was reported. Even when Plinko too. Chief to the ground,,, resulted in minimal pain. 

We then returned to the house to continue the recovery from the prior nights events, only to repeat the performance from the night before.
