Behold the Burpee Mile, A Crowd Favorite

Also STP and Rogue for 16-strong at #Sweatshop.

The Twitter Machine again forecasted YHC's workout, but this time with help from the F3Exicon feed.  In the #DAILY #EXICON post, F3Exicon defined BURPEE MILE as "Routine, 48 burpees, 1 mile run.  Done as 12 burpees, run 1/4 mile x4."  And that's what we did, after YHC retweeted the F3Exicon daily exicon post.

Warm-Ups

SSH x15 IC

Early shows up half-way through the SSH's.  So 5 burpees for everyone for Early living up to his name again.

Imperial Walkers x15 IC

MC's x15 IC.  Stretch calves.

Merkins x10 IC.  YHC still sore from Grouch's merkin-go-round workout three blasted days ago (400 pushups in one hour, ughh), or we would have done more.

Cotton pickers x15 IC

WWII sit-ups x10 IC

Star Crunches x10 IC (everyone's favorite).

Stretch.

THE THANG

Mosey to wheelchair ramp at Griffin St intersection

Partner up.  Partner 1 wheelbarrow walks all the way around the ramp.  Then 10 bro-merkins.  Repeato with partner 2.

Mosey to college stadium, north end.  The Davidson College lacrosse team was scrimmaging on the football field, with another squad in the stands, so YHC had to scrap the latter part of the workout or find a new AO (see below).  But we decided to go through with the first part due to the track itself being empty.  Plus, we would have an audience, always a good motivator for favorable performance.

LBC x10 IC, WWII Sit-ups x10 IC, then Star Crunches x10 IC

Next the Q announced THE BURPEE MILE.  No one had done it before.  4- 1/4 mile laps, each preceded by 12 burpees.  The Q declined to negotiate the number of burpees, despite the heat and humidity.  Let's do this.

Crowd cheers some of the PAX as they run by.  Crowd played Zack Brown Band and Kenny Chesney for us as we showed our speed.  Crowd cheers "USA! USA! USA!" for others as they sprinted out at their 12:00 minute mile pace following burpees.  It was a fine crowd of mostly young ladies for our BURPEE MILE debut.  The PAX were especially impressive this fine hot evening.

After the BURPEE MILE, Heels to Heaven x10 IC, LBC x10 IC, WWII Sit-ups x10 IC, and Star Crunches x10 IC.

Now the improvising part.  YHC wanted to do the seven-part PAX AMERICANA on the stadiums' south end, but had to move the AO because it would have been awkward to drip sweat all over our legion of fans.  So we moved to a large brick wall outside the stadium, allegedly adjacent to the college laundry facility.

Wall-sit, hold for 20 seconds.

Air presses x15 IC.

Recover, but don't go far.  Then B2W, hold for 20 seconds.  Hand walk out to Aussie MC's x 15 IC.  Recover.

Repeato but only 10 IC on the air presses and Aussie MC's.

Mosey back, Indian run, hitting the Green just a few seconds after the bell.  Recover Recover.

Comments and 2nd F

Some of the newer guys & kotters are really coming along, improving their fitness and making the run back with the group.  T-Claps to Rogue & Bullseye in particular.

The Summit was closed (how dare they on $2 Tuesday!) so we had six for 2nd F at Brickhouse, outside on the patio.

YHC moseyed home.
