5 of the finest Mountain Islanders "Came on Down" and appeared in the soggy gloom. Pax was not aware of this, but today's workout was weather dependent. If clean skies and dry ground, bricks would make an appearance. If moist skies and ground, we would be under cover of shelter for cards

The Thang:

  • Deck of 52 cards (sans jokers)
  • Value of the card = the number to do of the exercise 
  • ♦ Diamonds: Mericans, Face cards = Diamond Mericans 
  • ♠ Spades: Squats, Face cards = Jump Squats 
  • ♣ Clubs: Lunges, Face cards = Jump Lunges 
  • ♥ Hearts: Burpees 
  • Any Ace:  One Lap around school (1/3 mile) 

Moleskine

– Q needs some work on 1) shuffling cards and 2) not having to refer to cliff notes legend for every different suit that comes up

– The totals today were 90 Mericans (36 diamonds), 90 squats (36 jump squats), 90 lunges (36 jump lunges) and 90 straight out burpees and over a mile of running.  A good sweat was had by all

– Big Mac made his first appearance in many moons with his dog Rosie in tow

– Rosie apparently does not like Arizona. Come to think of it, I have heard dogs are a delicacy in certain parts of both West Virginia and the Philippines

– Thought we may have lost Big Mac on one of the run loops, and Pax surmised that either Rosie or he had stopped to drop a deuce

 Arizona gets street cred from recognizing we were playing with commemorative DMB cards

– Jump lunges may actually be easier than regular lunges 

– If Pax continues to show signs of improvement, we just may bring a pinochle deck for next time
